What you have pictured is a reversed wheel, not a Buick wheel, below is a late 40's Buick wheel:

Wheel Vintiques, Stockton, and Wheel Smith, to name a few all have chrome wheels. And I believe all will reverse for an extra charge:

  3. The old Buicks had a 5x5 bolt pattern and a larger center bore than some of the others, make sure you specify this when ordering a new wheel.

Your right nm carnut and old broken cars ! But the thing is if u really look at the pic closely
The rim is totally smooth from the outside lip to the center ! NO ridges. That's what I'm looking for and only certain makes were built this way from what I understand. Thanks everybody !!!!

  5. The hoop, or rim, you show is the back side of a wheel produced before the safety bead was introduced sometime in the 50's. The center has been turned around - reversed. In order to get that smooth look, and in chrome, you would need a wheel producer who makes custom wheels who has early hoops that would be nice enough to chrome plate. Like wise for the center of choice. 6" wide hoops without safety beads are probably pretty rare/scarce.

The wheel you show is a reversed '49-'51 Merc. If you're looking for genuine Buick wheels that are reversed & chromed, you'll have to find some old fella that saved some .... he's probably got 6'', 8'', & maybe a pair of 10s

I have the same but a different question to tag onto this thread. I need a set of Buick 15" wheels too, but because I need that larger centerbore to clear the hubs on my Studebaker truck. Dad ran chrome Buick 15x6's on the truck back in the '60s and '70s, but they have since gone missing.

I have contacted Cragar but their chrome smoothies have a too-small centerbore...

I wrote wheelkid today, waiting for his reply ! I was just showing the smooth hoop in my pic not really concerned with the center I guess. As most of you have figured out I have no idea what I'm talking about ! Lol. I was just told by a custom car builder I know that I'm looking for is Buick STYLE reverse wheel that has a smooth hoop no rings or ridges ! Sorry
