I read something that you should have the proper pcv valve for motor/cam... How do you know? I have a 1968 327 with a mother thumper cam the guy at the auto parts store just handed me one said this will work. Also i have aluminum finned edelbrock valve covers that arent baffled there are post on the underside which looks like you could tap them but the post are directly over the rockers so im afraid if i made a baffle the rockers would come close to hitting it or hit it. The breathers and pcv are screw in so rubber grommet baffles wont seal right im thinking about switching my v. covers altogether even though i like the look of these Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. get a corvette central cataloug , look up 66/67 327s . they had an oil fill tube in the front of the manifold. I forget what year but some had a screw in pcv valve in the oil tube. others had a hose ****** on the tube.run hose to carb.
I have an edlebrock air gap manifold on this 327. So theyre on the valve covers they are the screw in type breather and pcv valve Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
If that's^^^ also a breather it won't work right.. You need air in in one place and pcv in another...
Baffle i made but might just run other valve covers this will be super close to the rockers Dont feel super comfortable with it Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
It's not a breather its solid (only hole is where pcv is sticking out of) i have a breather on driver's side Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
You are on the right track with what you have but I would make the baffle plate twice the size and have it tight at the top, use Loc***e on the screws. The original Chevy baffles fitted between the rockers and had a long path to keep oil from being drawn up, what you have there will allow oil droplets to reach the valve. JW
What I did on my 327 is...I made a plug for the road draft tube where it exits the block, bored a hole in it to fit pcv and used it that way.
Let me tell you those screws will come back to haunt you!!. Have some body weld them in. If those screws come loose you will have a major problem!!!
This block doesnt have the road draft plug that i recall i know its a 68 327 cause i looked up the casting #'s Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
His block is the large journal 327 not the small journal with the internal baffle can and filler/breather tube. JW
Theyre haunting me just looking at it I'm gonna run my other v. covers Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
You could do what Fuzzy suggested and weld the baffle on. make a bigger plate from aluminium and plug weld it to the up stands. JW
I ended up putting the so cal speed shop covers i had theyre baffled and its all good Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
