Hi, I was just wondering if there was a difference between 28-29 Model A Quarter Windows of a regular coupe and a special coupe. If so what are the differences? I have a pair from a special coupe and I'm trying to find the difference Thanks!
There could be. I have a special coupe and when I ordered a gl*** set, for a coupe, everything fit except the qtr windows. I ended up getting them cut locally. If you would like, I can measure them and get back to you this evening.
There is a lot more wood in a Special coupe because of the original top material they covered the back in. I imagine that the windows are different for this reason. Here is a picture of all the wood in mine before I put all the tin back on to it. I have the original gl*** out of mine if you would like me to take a pic and measure for you.
I believe they are the same. I combined parts of the quarter window area from a special coupe and a standard coupe to build my 29 coupe. I used the top part of a special coupe with the bottom part of a standard coupe and the parts all lined up. Window garnish fit too. The back windows are definitely different, that's where all the different wood is.
The special coupe had splits in the corners to help it conform to the wood. The Standard coupe did not have these splits. There is also a difference in the width as far as the roof opening size. The standard had a wider roof opening than the special coupe. Rod
I've had two Special Coupes, my avatar is a 28 and have a restored 29 and the quarter windows are the same as a Standard Coupe.
