Customs HEI Distributor for '56 Starcheif?

I've heard that there are HEI distributors from newer Pontiacs that will fit the stock 317 V-8 in my '56...can anyone fill me in on the specifics of which ones will work and which won't? Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Dan

 

What does the original dist. look like, out of the car? any pictures?

According to Wallace racing they will interchange from 55 to79 except superduty.

 

I used a 1975 unit. You will have to modify your down draft tube or go to pcv.. Good artical in Safari Garage.
