Hurst engine mounts (SBC)

    Think of a 2x4 and you and a buddy carrying a bunch of bricks on the 2x4. If you carry your bricks by the very ends of the 2x4 its a LOT of weight in the middle (where your trans and engine bolt together), but if you bring your carrying points more inboard, the weight is spread out more.

    Which is more likely to crack?

    so mid mount it is with this set up. Does this motor mount use bushings or rubber biscuits like regular motor mounts? Also regular motor mounts and just a trans mount works fine without the mid mount?

    In the early 70s I got the Hurst- chevy mount from J.C. Whitney and made my own rear mount using an old Trans cross member from the junk pile. The cross member needed to be lower than the frame and 2 pieces of angle iron were welded to the frame then holes drilled for the cross member for the trans. I put a turbo 350 behind it and cut out the mid mounts. It was a long span, but never had problems in 5 years.
