Tom and i are co-workers and im excited to be helping Tom on the metal work side of things to re invent this 13' 7'' aluminum tank. Tom had a planned trip to Bonneville last week ,but as you all know the event got cancelled. He had planned to gather as much info as possible in a week and come back eager to build. So in light of that we are relying on research away from the flats and the knowledgeable guys on here! Here's some of the ingredients accompanied with a couple of photos (more to come) It's a 1930 ford four banger it has been pressurize and bearing inserts custom ground cam windfield cyl head. 2 carbs. Trying to use a Mitchell 4speed and a Mitchell overdrive if it fits. A banjo rearend. A 1933 front axel with spring. Belly tank/ lakester cl*** vintage cl*** http://scta-bni.org/pdf/2014/SCTA.V4.V4F.Guide.2014.Final.pdf
Get the rule book so that you can build to their specs. Careful placement of every item is critical in such small confines. You will need a floor inside the frame under the driver and much safety equipment. Jim Ford
the build has started.... splitting the first tank. Team involved in the build Tom Hardy (owner /mechanics) RJ Barnes (Helping with overall build) Clint Glasgow (Helping with overall build) Connor Drost (Metal work) Jon Bingham (Metal Work) all the above guys are hamb members and members of Colorado's Denver Deton8tors car club
OH Man!! Looks Great! Make sure to get the latest SCTA rule book and ask questions. See you on the Salt, J
So... when you say inspiration does that mean you intend to copy this ch***is or is that the one you are using? It's a great looking ch***is that looks like every effort has been made to make it as safe as possible.
