Any one know of a company that makes cross flow rads that are tall and narrow for a 28 Hupmobile ? Looks a lot like a model A Ford or 32 Ford. I am putting a LT 1 in it and LT 1s use a reverse cross flow.

The motor doesn't know what style the rad is, only how well it cools.

    Post some dimensions.

Would be REAL nice, if the aftermarket radiator
companies included dimensions, in the catalog listings.

Bingo! So true! I bought an inexpensive "cross-flow" radiator and turned it 90 degrees so that it would fit my narrow 37' grill shell and radiator support. This effectively got me around the high dollar vertical flow radiators made specifically for older cars.

EM. Did it do a good job, this is the 1st motor I have had that calls for a Crossflow rad because the cooling water starts at the top of the motor (the heads) and goes down but unki tan said any regular radiator will work. That is great news to me and will save me $$$$$. I am gonna look back at your molar post and start there. Thanks

Vertical flow radiators are often more efficient then cross flow rads. The coolant tends to stagnate in the corners opposite the inlets / outlet in cross flow rads, so you lose effective surface area, unless it is baffled or has multiple p***es.. Don't get hung up on the cross flow. Just make sure you plumb the motor so the pump always has a good supply of coolant.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, running the cross-flow vertically works great. The only things I needed to do other than mounting it were to plug the original filler neck location and then run a drain pet**** in the lower radiator hose and a filler neck in the upper radiator hose. The drain and filler pieces are directly available through Summit Racing.

I think you guys are missing the OP. 's question his water pump pushes coolant reverse meaning in the intake and flows out the water pump ..

I'm no expert but I think a down flow radiator could be a problem with any kind of coolant loss for an air pocket to arrive..

. Seems if it did work it would have to be pressurized with 15lb and pleanty reserve in a recovery tank?

Radiator still doesn't care . If pump is discharging coolant, plumb to top tank and lower tank to engine inlet.

Yep , your right ...can't believe I didn't think of running lines opposite to what I'm used to seeing on a normal sbc ...Probably would catch other people off guard when they first see it also..
