If some of you remember a few years back I asked if a 63 Impala front end would fit a 64 longroof... well it does, so i ended up buying that 64 9 p***enger for 2 grand. I started working on it about a month ago, and this is what has been accomplished... we are shaving the drip rails (scary) the tailgate, handles and firewall. Full air suspension, 2 chrome 5 gal tanks, 2 Viair 450's, all 1/2" fittings, lines and valves. The plan is to two tone the paint from the top bodyline, black and 'Hellfish' antifreeze green with HOK #F23 green flake in both colors. Bellflower tips, fenderwell dumps, and I'm contemplating an angel hair headliner.... but thats won't be for a while. My goal is for it to look like a 60's showcar/ custom that was never built.... oh ya, along with the 63 frontend, we decided to add full 63 quarters on it, so that the front 'point' will match the back. Heres some pics:

Very cool. Sixty fours are alright, but sixty threes are really cool.

  3. Looks like work. I like the concept, the '63 front is better looking in my opinion.

work is not the word to describe it :)

As soon as the roof and quarters are done pretty much all the major work is over.

Instead of two-toning it at the fender line, I hereby give you permission to divide the colors below the line, per my design and my old '64...see pic...I brought the color down over the fender line approximately two inches...this brings the color down into the body and adds a bit of "excitement" to the two-tone...

Car is lookin sweet..one question..why ya removing the drip rails...other than to just clean it up???
Every time I see, like a chopped car and they remove the rails it looks like ****.
I feel with out the driprail, your eye is drawn to the top line of the door...maybe it will be different on a long roof.
    Keep the pics coming.

That looks *****'n. Pretty much the same idea I had for my 63 as a 60's kustom that could have been built back in the day. Can't wait to see more, that tailgate brings back some memories.

Good to see you making progress. Mines collecting dust... Is that a 63
tailgate in the pics? Saw some tailgate pieces on egay this week,a complete
power(tailgate) window harness from the firewall back and a power window
regulatorw/motor and a NOS regulator for a crank up window. Keep us
posted on the progress. Oh, if you haven't started suspension mods yet
you may want to contact this guy www.cardomain.com/id/triplecap

Thanks guys.... the reason for shaving the drip rails was because there was little pin holes and surface rust between the roof panels.

As for the tailgate, it's actually a 64 9 p***enger power tailgate. the body mods will be similar to this car:

You know, I gotta' tell ya' I really like a lotta' those long roofs, and your's is no exception! Your body work is outstanding! I will part company with head-liner idea though; I simply wouldn't go with that material because I think it "breaks the theme" of your ride. Good luck on your project!

Nice work; from the quality of your other rides, it's bound to be bad ***. If I ever get the 'Skin and Tin' thing going, maybe you could a 'grocery getter' thing with the wagon!:D

Looks good. It's going to be a good race to see who can drive theirs first. Maybe we should put a wager on it to make it interesting.
