B.jpg D.jpg G.jpg Q.jpg X.jpg Z4.jpg Z7.jpg Z16.jpg Z17.jpg Z18.jpg Just getting around to posting pictures of the upgrade and in car clean up job of the 389 in my 1964 Bonneville. Remember, this was about what I could do in house and in time. Work accomplished is the following. New water pump, New roller timing set, New copper head gasket set, new N.O.S. gasket set, New Melling SPC-7 Cam, New Melling high performance lifters, Royal Purple break in oil. Heads-intake-exhaust gasket matched. Heads very mildly ported, lapped, cleaned and new seals installed. All cadmium plated parts cleaned, acid etched and dull cleared. Engine compartment reshot after pulling all firewall mounts. Some small weekend stuff still to do when it is warm again like detailing the steering pump, dipstick, add a chrome air GM style air cleaner, etc. The purpose is a nice daily driver not a 100% correct show car. I really appreciated all the advice and help that each and everyone chipped in for me, it was nice to have all the excellent info. on hand as I needed it :) PLEASE SEE MY 1964 Bonneville ALBUM and you will see much more detailed, condensed pics of the job:)

Looks good to me bub.....I always like those ole' two door Bonnies' and Catalinas. I have a '65 Goat that met a mistimed deer leap. ****s to say that it is now a back burner lurker. It's motor came out of a Bonny too, back in the day. Nice job on your ride.

Thank you :) I love the GTO's and the big rides. Two different flavors of fun. This is my second foray into Poncho territory, the first being a 68 Firebird 400 long ago.

How hard is it to find posi rears for these?

  5. Nice looking '64. Posis for those cars are quite coveted but, can be found. Interchange is '57-64 Pontiacs and Olds ( 3rd members ). Brad at Fabcraft Metalworks sell parts for them and even has new posi carriers, they are in Texas. I have several hundred old Pontiacs here in Az but, no posis at this time www.pontiacheaven.org

Ok, thanks, I am going to school up on these. I am completely in the dark about them.
