Has anyone ever sprayed this product and found it lays out with alot of orange peel? A fellow Hamber and I are getting ready to spray his 50 Ford and we are trying to figure out the product. We mixed it as it says to and we are using a SATA NR2000 with a 1.4 tip.

Orange peel is typically either a result of the reducer evaporating too quickly or having the gun setup off (air pressure or excessive paint). What are the air temps and humidity you are trying to spray in?

Is it SEM hot rod black? When I shot it while wet it had an orange peel look to it, but it smoothed out as it dried and was a really nice semi flat finish.

Thanks FrozenMerc, we are in St. Louis with it about 65 in the shop. Not sure of the humidity level..

Is hot rod black a flat or gloss finish?

65 and what I am ***uming is dry winter air. Quite possibly, your reducer is evaporating too quickly. You may have to switch to a slower or lower temp reducer.
