so I'm building my own channeled sub rails, just wondering how people are mounting there bodies after channeling, i couldn't find any info on it? couldn't even find that much info on how people channel a car haha i will keep searching but any help would be appreciated!
Going back on the A rails? If so just map out where the original holes were, make up some blocks of hardwood that protrude just below the rail, drill and install with a minimum grade 8 7/16 bolt of the right length. You want it where it was so the hood and other parts fit with reinventing the car. Deuce? Can't say as I haven't had the pleasure, yet...
Perhaps you are speaking of mounting the body to the sub rails in its new position? It can get tricky, some are nicely done with boat loads of detail work and some bodies are just welded to the sub rails with whatever junk was laying around. I'll guess you already found this thread ? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...channeled-car-lets-see-how-you-did-it.556115/ There's some nice stuff in there.
Hey!! I found that if you do a Google search it will show your topic on many Forums then scroll down and hit the HAMB forum on your subject!! Pete
I bought the universal poly mount kit and I'm mounting mine the same way a newer car or truck would be mounted on trying for a smooth ride lol Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
This thread might give you a little insight. HRP http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/mounting-the-body-on-a-channeled-model-a.124003/
Post 44 in 'Vicky's link is what I think when it comes to channeled bodies. All that box and rectangle tubing seems like major overkill that can't be used, but if it works for ya who the hell am I to say different. 99% of you ride on less every day, and I mean WAAYYY less. Think Mopar 'A' body and have at it or just raise the gennie stuff if it's good enough. The whole inner floor sheet metal is available for an A and is $$$ friendly. It's also available for the Deuce and 33-4s. Maybe not as $$$ friendly but already "engineered" for us. Do we ask what did "they" do? "They" being the ones we herald here from the past. All that box tube stuff reminds me of early circle track work in the raw, though not so much once the floors are in.
