If any of you have ever driven on the 95 between Kingman and Vegas you have seen the HUGE towing/storage lot with all the old projects on the west side of the highway just north of the Dolan Springs turn off.

If you have ever tried to talk to the guy you have either been greeted with a friendly smile or told to go pound sand. Hes a bit tempermental.

Anyway, this Saturday they are doing a huge auction of it all. I guess Dan from Storage Wars will be doing it (I dont think its televised though). here is the link (please dont PM me with any questions, as Im not involved, just saw it posted). http://americanauctioneers.com/auctions/events/detail/546

I meant 93. I'm just used to 95 since it runs through BHC, my bad.

Stopped by there this am. Most of the stuff are REAL PROJECTS, basically just shells of cars. There were a few interesting cars there. 62? Comet S22 convertable, 60 merc. 4dr hardtop long roof & a couple Buick bubble tops. I think they should have sold this stuff off 10yrs ago.
Good thing their having it now. If you came there in summertime you'd be fighting the rattlesnakes walking thru there.

  8. Ive been to hundreds of auctions over the years. And ill never pay a buyer premium or pay a registration fee. If the auctioneer is working for the seller and also charges the buyer a fee that creates dual agency . Its illegal In Arkansas where real estate is involved. Ill not bring my money and then be robbed via a buyer premium.

Come to Jonnys car auction where you get a rattle snake in every trunk!

  10. Amen to that. It's like paying UPS a fuel surcharge to deliver your stuff. Too much available stuff out there to pay some clown a premium to let you buy it.

To add to this. If it looks bad in the pics online, it looks even worse up close. That said, you guys on here with waaay more skills than I can probably make something out of one of these if you can pick it up cheap enough.

Almost all auctions around me has a buyer premium. I can think of only one auctioneer here that doesn't charge a buyer premium and he is also the only auctioneer around here that doesn't accept credit cards.

the $100 does say it is refundable registration fee. Around here usually it's the bigger construction or your repo business auctioneers that have that. they do this for a few reasons around here. That registration fee is paid in cash and that covers the filing fee if your business check bounced on the rest of your purchase. This helps if they have a large sum that bounce at the same time, they have at least some liquid cash to work with. Even without checks bouncing, it gives them access to some of that money right away instead of waiting days for everyones checks to clear.
They also do it on the smaller scale sometimes at storage units in populated areas too. For these they only charge around $10.00 but most times it is non refundable. This cuts down on the looky loos or nosey people that just show up that have no money at all, they just create problems for the people that are actually there to buy. Since the crowd got smaller again and back to normal, these fees around here pretty much dried up, they are actually trying to get more to these sales lately. the tv hype is over in my area and back to almost normal. The one auctioneer here even gives out free coffee, soda or bottled water and doughnuts at his to help entice some bidders back.

as for the auction, yes seems quite a bit is rough and so far the price of the bids aren't outrageous except maybe a few , some prices are below s**** prices which isn't good for us hot rodders but then the auction isn't officially live yet either. Definitely his rollbacks will jump up when it goes live, at least they better.

  15. I have stopped by there several times over the last (10) years ....

Only once was I allowed to look inside the fence & what was interesting was priced
    way too high ...

That 'collection ' needs a ' celebrity auctioneer ' to try & get anything of value
    for what is left ....

    Just my opinion

looks like it might be a long day for the internet bidders if they don't get their problem solved fast. That will cost them a few bids.
