I am building a chopped 1950 Ford Tudor and am attempting to fit the stainless trim around the window openings. Can these be bent to fit the new window shape or will I need to cut them into sections to get them to a proper fitment? Thanks, Steve
Unless you really know what you're doing (and I sure as hell don't), you're going to have to cut them.
Stainless is soft and will re shape. Cutting is not always necessary. Obviously being that you chopped the car some material will need to be removed but cutting it into pieces is not the way to go. Each piece and each car is different. The reveals and lips must be maintained. Sometime a filler for the channel is used, sometimes a buck. Gentle heat is used often. It's almost an art. Welding it and making the weld disappear takes a fine hand also. See if you can find an on line video of it actually being done. The Wizzard
You really only need to reshape the rear corner of the back windows. A simple fix to avoid welding is to get two more clips per window and add one at the top and one at the vertical. Sure it's not quite as tidy as welding but waaaay easier and not really that obvious . These things are so thin and damage very easily and bending the C shape can be tricky .
If the car he's talking about is the one in his Avitar it has slanted B pillar. Now he has to reshape every corner. The Wizzard
Its not about the stainless, but i guess this vent window modifying video could be useful too for you:
