This is interesting. Might as well have made it into a pickup? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4607624505&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1 Thanks, Kurt
T-bird restorers hate those fiberglass replacement hardtops that were made for the 55-57 T-birds, they can be had in great shape for a couple hundred bucks. I'd cut the roof off of this one, leaving the windshield posts in place, and replace it with a removable T-bird style top. The rest of the car is neat looking, but the roofline is really an abortion.
They have got to be kidding. No wonder they're selling it. You're right, it could have been a bitchin' Merc version of a Ranchero. I would have dug that. I'm surprised, now that I think of it, I've never seen one before.
That's a great idea! I had a '64-Ford-Falcon-Futura-Hardtop-Hand-Painted-Silver-With-A-Brush that I'd gotten the big idea that it would be killer as a beach ride - you know, cut the top off and drive it. Problem was: 1) I live in Michigan, and; 2) The idea came to me after one too many beers. I'd somehow convinced myself that I'd be able to cut the top and re-attach it at will...Beer will do that to ya sometimes. After mentally noting cut lines, I went into the house to retrieve the saw. Thank GOD I passed out before following thru on that cockamamie idea... Looks like the owner of the comet has a much higher tolerance for alcohol than I did.
'70s car, the beginning of the end of hot rodding as we knew it. I saw a '64 new yorker done that way in about 75 or 6. What a freakin waste.
I know where one of those tops is availible for about $200 if you're interested. It's light enough to take off with one person.
Hey! lets chop a car...but not the normal way, and lets make it really ugly too... though i wouldn't mind the Jensen Interceptor mk.3 in the back round!!!
Here's basically what I was thinking- Comanchero. Making a car into a pickup doesn't seem to turn out very well, though I do have a Rustchero I could mess with before it goes to the smelter. Thanks, Kurt
