Lookin' to bag my '51 Chevy this spring, got how I'm going to do the front figured out. I was thinking about going with a 2 link for the rear. Any ideas or pics of setups?
Lots of info here on this subject, you just have to search and read, Here is a thread with some info on two link (aka) truck arms are the best way...imo nascar truck arms?
2-links work. But or the amount of articulation you may see and the twisting (from like turning into a steep driveway or parking lot ) make it not the best option, plus the pinion angle doesnt change when it cycles through the suspension. one of the common ones is a 4-link. Some do parallel with a panhard or watts link. Another type of 4-link is a trianglated 4-link. It's where the upper bars are at the widest angle you can get to help with the side to side movement. A 3-link is a variation of a 4-link but the two upper bars meet and have one bushing to mount with. S10forum.com has ALOT of info but there are a bunch of ***holes over there so beware.
I'm familiar with the different types of link setups,I was looking more for pics of different setups people have done on 49-54 Chevys and some ideas or do's and don'ts. And as far as 2 links go the articulation is all relative to the link lengths and and the way they are mounted. A 2 link with a panhard bar is what I'm leaning toward, similar to a c-10 suspension.
If you must have a 2-link, get the C10 truck arm setup. Articulation is not just a factor of length, and how they are mounted. The arms on these must be flexible, AND mount as closely together as possible in the front. DO NOT let anyone sell you on a solid arm setup. They are not engineers, and do not understand how automotive suspension works.
Personally, I would do a triangulated 4-link. Give Alex Gambino a call. He will set you up with everything you need.
Ha. That's not going to happen. If you are planning on going low, the wheel wheels are going to have to be replaced. Even the 2-link will mean floor mods.
If you are looking for 67-72 C10 truck arms and a panhard bar.. i may know a guy with a whole set up....
Don't get me wrong,I'm ok with some cutting just not trying to make this a 6 year project. I do all my work outside for the most part and weather and a real tight budget dictates what I do or don't do. Cost being the most important factor, that's the main reason for the decision on the truck arm setup. if you see where I'm coming from. BUDGET BACKYARD BUILT! Lol.
same boat here I was thinking 4 link my fleetline but I have a few set of truck arms already and the metal to build a cross member
