here's my car. fairly stock 283, i mean i need a cam and i'll have a little more compression than stock but i'm not going crazy on it. 4 speed and a 3.50ish gear in the quickie. do i go with the 3x2? or go with the wc4d and four 97's
I'd do the 4 carb in a heartbeat!!! But whatever you decide, please get rid of that unsightly piece of .... hanging down from your ch***is! What on earth is that for? Gary
LOL gnichols, That's a drive shaft loop, DuhOh. That 4 carb setup is sweet That would probably be my choice..
From a h***le standpoint, A single 4bbl would be the best, 3 carbs are cool, 4 carbs are cooler. How much cool are you willing to put up with?
Rick,it looks like you already have both setups,I would say go with what you like best although the 4 carburetors do have a real cool factor going for them. HRP
I suppose, but I can't see a driveshaft, or even the bottom of a ****** under there... unless there's more to come, I'd call Dr. Kildare and get it to surgery! Gary
hi , I think you should use the wc4d - it just looks so much better. mines a new motor (283) so I'm running it in with a single 2-barrel Rochester and then changing over
One question. How good are you at tuning multiple carbs and how much patience do you have to go along with that skill? 3x2 is pretty simple in most cases but with the 4x2 on that small engine you are looking at a lot of jet changes and adjustments to get them right for street driving where you actually drive the car for some distance. You do intend to actually drive it and not just trailer it to rod trots? That hangdown, aka driveshaft loop looks like it is just right to hook any speedbump that the pan will cross over and from my experience on my T that was about the same height the pan will smack down on speed bumps if you are going at more than a crawl. I think we repaired my pan twice.
Looks like that's for mowing the gr*** **** Maybe a speed bumb file ? If have the know how and can tune them I'd go with the 4
I tend to favor the 4 carb set-up. But, i'm a flashy kind of guy. Nice master cylinder. Maybe rethink the cross member? Coming right along Rick.
The 4 carb setup is cooler looking, but I'd only run it if I had the skills to tune it properly (which I personally do not). If you can, I say go for it.
As I've said before it's hard to go wrong with a 3x2 setup and finned valve covers on a small block Chevy but I'd get another air scoop and go with the wc4d because 3x2 setups are over done.
Id go with the four twos, but then I love them( not the same as yours) but still! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
X2 Get yourself a good carb synchronizer with a little persistence and fine tuning you can get it to run sweet, I'm running a 4 x 2 on my flathead did a cross country trip no problems, starts up fine and runs great.
I'd give my left nut for the 4X2 setup, but for drivability, a 4-BBL is best. Multiple carbs are OK, but in your application, I would stay away from the 94's/97's and go with small base 2GC's. I had a buddy years ago that tried 3 94's and had nothing but trouble; we re-drilled the manifold for the later carbs and all was well. I used to run 4 97's on my dirt car, but even with the best of maintenance, I had to go through them every spring. I'm now running 2 2GC's and haven't touched them in years (we run exhibition only lately, though).
