Are there any shops or people in the Houston area familiar with the Hydramatics? I have a 55 pontiac starchief, I got it running great but the trans is a bit off. I found a transmission shop that said they could adjust it, but I am hesitant because he said he has not worked on one in a long time. I also asked some specific questions and he answered that he could not remember. Just hoping to find someone more familiar! Thanks.
There are a lot of things that you can do for yourself. My experience with them is that a lot of the time it is just a matter of adjusting the throttle lever linkage. you haven't said what it wrong with it so I am not diagnosing it for you just my experience. Thank you I was not aware of that group, already reading through the posts. I have adjusted the TV rod but have not had much success. The issue is smoother shifting and sometimes nonexistant down shift. I can come to a complete stop and maybe 10 seconds will go by and it will drop down to first. I was talking about going to that mechanic because I read the bands often need adjusted. Thank you for your response.
