Ok, you guys that live where it is still 60 degrees in the middle of winter may not appreciate this. But here in Connecticut it has been very cold and dismal. Anyway I did get to a Bonneville Garage night last Friday and it was good to see some friends and hear some hot motors startup. But now it is Wednesday and I am cold. Anyway I bundle up and make my way out to the mailbox and mixed in with all the garbage mail I see it! Yes my new Alliance Member Tag. Now I have something to do. I need to decide where this one will be mounted. Anyway along with it is this very cool Thank You note from Ryan. Fact is I should be thanking Him. So here it is and Thank You Ryan for all you do for us.
Hi. Your tag will look great on your avatar no matter where you put it. Mine came today. I am getting my 46 Chevy Coupe down to the near done stages & soon back on the road. I did not take the tag out to garage to check but I have a 12 Volt to 6 Volt volatage reduce for power to the old radio, 6 volt elect wipers, guages, etc. It consists of the resistor made into a finned aluminum heat sink that I will mount on the firewall likely where the old Voltage Regulator was. To somewhat keep that new fangled heat sink from showing on the otherwise stock firewall I think I will mount the tag in front of it on studs. Probally leave about 1/4" between tag & heat sink for better heat dissapation. My engine is a hot 235 six cylinder but not stock by any means but I am trying to keep everything else visible on the car looking as near original as possible. Even painted the 57 235 with the 1946 engine grey. It won't fool anyone but keeping the old look as much as I can is important to me. Jimmie
Sorry Mark but it's not 60 degrees here but more like 70 or 75 during the day's. Nights drop down to around 48 or 50 degrees but by 11:AM it's back in the 60's I spent a few weeks in December back in Darien just to remind me of why I moved to the west coast of Florida 24 years ago. Jimmy
I hear ya there. Here I am getting ready for another round of snow wondering why I didnt stay in South Texas last spring when I was there.
I was envisioning a bunch of guys in your shop all smiling after installing those lovely fenders back on the cars. As they should be!
gotta say I expected a "new" part either from a swap meet or UPS. Because the latest issue of Playboy would be inappropriate.
Mine was in todays mail also. At the county fair every fall, I collect every flat refrigerator magnet I can find. Then I use them to superglue to the back of my Alliance tag each January so I can firewall mount the latest. Works good for special dash plaques like HRR. DirtyDave, at my age I don't expect to find a Playboy in the mailbox, just Medicare statements and maybe this month's You and Your Prostate magazine. Golden years my foot!
