Did a little searching, but didn't see exactly what I was looking for...

Let's see what you guys are running for the tall skinnys... 18", 20", whatever. What are they? From what? What will they mount to (in terms of pattern)? What tires do you have on them?

    Okay... GO!!

Chevy Astro Vans had an 18" spare tire. Next time I'm at the truck yard I'm going to try and dig up a set.... Old Packards used 6.50x18 tires... hmmmmm

I've heard of spares being used. What kind of abuse can those things take? Is something like that going to be able to handle, say 300 hp without coming apart? I see Coker makes a tire that fits that size.

  5. I'm going to use astro spares, however they're are 16" multi lug spares (5 - 4.75, 5 -5) and the 18" 5-5 i've got some of both. Construction seems to be like any other steelie.

those would be pretty hard, stick to narrowing a standard wheel. Those wheels are bolt together (not beadlock), they are two halves that bolt together so you can break them down and install the run flat in the field. Wish I had those on my deuce and a half 6x6, would have been much safer! Pretty much any wheel can be narrowed or widened, but leave that to the pros that can true up the wheel.

if you're gonna do up that sedan, stick with the stock wheels, they're 19x4

Here's my '26 T. It has Overland wheels, and 30"x3.5 tires. Is that tall and skinny enough?

The next one is my '32 wagon. Stock 18" wheels, 5.50x18 tires, wide five bolt pattern. The size kept getting smaller in later years, 17" and 16" wires.

WOW! Can anyone beat 30x3.5!

    Buschandbusch,
Not keeping the Fordor. It will be for sale next week. Selling to buy a coupe... if I EVER find one!! The sedan has steelies on it anyway.

Who makes (or did make) a 20 incher?

  11. My 20x4" wheels, chivvy. I have BFG 500x20 tires on now, 450s are available. Firestones are also available. Bolt pattern is 6x5.5.

Should you see a set of wires, 20x 2.75, with 6x5.5 , I'd buy them, they're rare. There are a plenty of 19" and 18" wires with rim width from 2.75 to 3.25 avaliable.

I have a set of solid steel disc wheels that take the same 20" rim(split rim) that are on the woodies, as a backup set. Might even mount them someday.

I did a lot of machine work and welding to convert the original spindles to the discs, maintaining the original king-pin connection to the axle.

As you know, re-writing history is an ongoing tradition, so, someday discs(even) will be considered 'traditional'. I hear hidden ones are already?

if you can't find any soon, mine will probably be for sale in a few months, and it's a quick jaunt down there. I'm sorting the engine to make it more reliable, smoother and powerful, and fixing anything that doesn't work- horn, windshield, driver's window, etc. Waiting on a ****load of backordered parts though :D

Here's a great exaple of 18" wheels. His are Plymouths or something like that modified to fit his drivetrain. The tires are either Pilot X's or Exelcior's.

I just looked for a pic on my confuser, but it isn't here. Some guy in Cal., I think, has a roadster, I think Ardun powered, with 30" wheels similar to what I have on my '26. It looks great! I bet the pics are on my old ****ped out confuser in the ba*****t. Does anyone have info on that car?
