Great pics of your shed Whodaky, I would love to come and have a closer inspection one day. By the way I really like that salt flats speed shop picture. I happen to know Chris Davenport the owner and Jim his Father very briefly and have followed some of there Hotrods being built and owned by them. The 40 coupe below is a great example of one Jim owned up until 18 months ago it's now been sold, it has a very good long history as well.

I have been working on the roadster tonight, to now hopefully get it going for this coming weekend for the reliability run, I just installed a recently flushed and cleaned radiator, new thermostats and top hoses, it should see it back running nice and cool how it use to run. Hopefully tomorrow night pending on what time I get home from work I can finish it off and road test for any leaks and then it should be good to go!!

Geoff, This thread isn't going anywhere. I don't like to post unless I think people will be interested, I think some people will like this one. This was a small new years cruise we went on.

I think some of the older opinionated gents have driven many off with their inflexible at***udes. And many of those same have since lost the ability to visit here or p***ed In the U.S., if you don't build a "belly ****on" car, folks will walk up and tell you what you should have done, instead of complementing the fact that you at least built one. (By "belly ****on", I mean that everybody has one.)
Geoff, the skills and at***ude of sharing you display is rare at times these days. I hope you keep a copy of this journaling of the times you are living so you can reflect back on and draw comfort from them some day. To Tony, nothing affects your quality of life more than a bad back. Everything you do aggravates it. I have battled that in the past and have found a good physical the****** and stretching exercises made a world of difference. To the rest of you folks down under, I applaud your creativity and can truly say you have a great diversity of rods and interests along with the friendships that encourage others to build too. Thanks guys for the support.
I haven't got time tonight to write much or even post any images.
Really busy with work and stuff.
I think Tony has gone missing again?

    Geoff aka whodaky

PS Thom, your calender should be there later this week. I hope you like it. Just a bunch of boring old hot rods, all in black and white or sepia.

  7. Hi Geoff/Tony,
Like the other guys, tend to not want to talk for talk sake, but for reference I certainly have, and confident will continue to both enjoy and appreciate the effort to keep this thread going, and naturally the build of the coupe.
Your progress with the coupe encourages me to keep chipping away at mine, so please don't be discouraged, as there's a lot of people enjoying the build, and life element as well.
Will be down at the Reliability run with TMF and Corey, hopefully see both you guys there.
    Cheers,
    Drewfus

Sorry fellas for not writing as I have been down with my back pain , and not looking at the computer much. Over the w/end and the last few days I tried to fit up the hood or bonnet on the roadster with it not fitting up to well , and my stress level going crazy and the pain kicking in I am not being to good, but resting a bit then trying again I keep going. Bonus tonight Sam and Frank came to help me and we got a few things done, thanks boys. I will try to go to Melbourne in the roadster with Sam and Renee in the coupe and Frank riding shotgun with me. I hope to catch up with you guys there. Geoff the last grasp will relive again soon. We will plan a working bee on it soon mate. I will ring you when we get back from the run, and thanks for ever starting the grasp pages of our life's.

As Tony said he is coming up to Melbourne for a reliability run this weekend, I thought I would post a couple of images of the reliability run Tony and I went on last year.

    Thanks for the images Gary.
The weather looks ideal today for the run.
I am fitting new discs to the pickup today. So all the cars will be out of the garage to get the pickup on the hoist. I might even do a bit of maintenance on my 5W.
Good to see you got your roadster going.
I look forward to seeing more images from the weekend.
Thanks once more for all your contributions to this thread.

  16. @whodaky I like those sepia pictures, The one with the roadsters a****st the gum trees would look great blow up and framed.

@509garyd thanks for sharing your pictures and please keep posting so the rest of us can live vicariously.

The missus and I took the kids to a truck show in Koroit today (it has sort of become an Australia day weekend tradition), There was a couple of hot rods there and some really cool old trucks. The kids loved it, they have jumping castles, face painting and an animal tent there. Sorry I forgot to get any pics to share.

Hope everyone has a great Aussie day, I'll be having a beer for ya.

Here is some shots from the weekend on the RCCRC reliability run and what a weekend it was. It started Friday night at the antique motorcycle museum and then Saturday was the run around the peninsula and then we all finished at the Hastings pub on the foreshore. Then this morning was the breakfast at Ben's Ranch Deluxe. The last 2 pictures Geoff is for you that Tony asked me to post and we all wished you here as well with us. Seriously,Gary has had the last week off and has started to prime the body in black. He also has this next week off and hopes to have the whole car in black primer by the weekend. It won't be long before the purple paint goes on.
In the meantime I have been working on a binnacle for the switches. Along with all the other stuff we have done on it over the last few months.

Hey Tony how good was that drive home last night, the flatheads loved that night time air. We could have just kept on driving, even the good wife loved it. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1422175730.954841.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1422175838.272785.jpg

What a great lot of images Gary. Thankyou once again for taking the time to do that.
It was great to see Tony's roadster along with Renee' and Sam's 5W all the way from Port Fairy.

This last couple of days I have been doing some maintenance on my pickup.
I was thinking as I worked on it, it could do with a change. I decided it needs a change of wheels. So I dug through my wheels and came up with a combination I like. This morning I did a bit of playing around with wheels. The images show the combination I plan to run. Although I will be getting different tyres, especially for the rear, I reckon they need to be a bit taller and no white lettering.
There is a lot more to the rims and caps than meets the eye. So when I have have got them all done I may do a technical post on what I did. But for now the 5 spokes will go back on.

  25. Looks good @whodaky, amazing how much a wheel change can alter the at***ude of a car.

Have a great aussie day everyone.

    Thanks Mitch.
I don't know that it looks any better than the 5 spokes, I just need a change.
When I went to pull these wheels off I decided to see what it looked like without the wheel trims.

  27. Sometimes it's not about better or worse, sometimes it's just about different. I think the black wheels without the trim rings lends kind of an industrial vibe.

Geoff, It was good talking to you today, we had a great time at the run on the w/end the roadster ran like a champ. I really like the change on the pickup , the black and white shot of the three 32's looks perfect and I would like to thank Gary D for bringing all the shots from run, we had a good time , and yes the flatheads were flying that night . Big w/end for me , but also it was so enjoyable as well.

    Hey Tony.
It was good hearing about the run from you.
I was so glad that you finally got to take the roadster on a long run. Was also great to see the roadster out and about with Renee' and Sam's 5W. I am sure Renee', Sam and the family had a ball also.
It would have been something to see Spencer T's and Jude's little heads spinning from seeing all those old time hot rods.
MMMMMM I guess no one likes the Austin. Ah well I like it and really enjoy working along side Gary. As well as having Gonzo flitting in and out of the garage, keeping us focused. It's going to blow a lot of people away when they see it in person.
Thanks for the positive comments on the pickup's impending wheel change.

Just my opinion but for some reason I have never liked trim rings on black wheels with black tyres, I like the look of the black to black it gives it an aggressive wheel/tyre look for me. And yes the Austin is a cool car.
