I'm building a gl*** 32 Ford roadster. When I started two years ago, the procedure to obtain a vehicle ***le was to have bills of sale for the major components, body, frame and engine. Have the vehicle inspected to see if the components were legal and the vehicle was safe for use.

Now the rules state that the vehicle must be considered as a special constructed vehicle and we must provide the Manufacturers Certificate of Origin, a Quiet ***le or a Bonded ***le.

In my case, I didn't get any of the above because I thought a bill of sale for the major components was adequate.

    1. I can probably come up with some Certificate of Origins, but it will then be ***le as a 2015 1932 Ford and taxed accordingly.

    2. If I try for a quiet ***le, that will probably cost $700 - $1000. I'm not sure how it will be ***led.

    3. I have no knowledge of what is involved for a Bonded ***le.

I have contacted a person that can provide registrations out of Georgia that then can be converted to ***les after the vehicle is inspected and found to be legal in Kansas.
This will cost about $700 and I believe the vehicle will then be ***led as a 1932.

Do any of you have experience with these out of state ***le/registration transactions?

Any advise pertinent to Kansas would be appreciated.

It is easy to get a ***le in Kansas for pre 1950 cars. Just fill out the Bill of Sale form and take it down to the courthouse. I think it cost like $17. Then wait two weeks for your ***le to come in the mail.

If I were you I would find a Frame with a 1932 vin on it or a transmission with the number on it. Whatever you do don't make up a fake number. Because if it comes back that someone else owns it..... well you know the rest.

I have several frames and various bodies, I turned in the serial numbers (frame numbers) and they sent me ***les in the mail for each frame. I agree with 1928Fordman, your best bet is to come up with a frame and send in the frame number to the state. Might be easier than you might think, in a lot of other states they get all wound up about having a ***le to go with the frame and it makes the frames worth a lot. Likewise, a frame without a ***le is worth much less and in Kansas the (frame) ***le is not required. That should work in your favor. Good luck and happy hunting.
Note: With a frame you would be ***ling the car as a 32 (or whatever year the frame number is) and that becomes the VIN for the car. Not sure how far you can Hot Rod it and still have it considered an original 32, but that is what I am attempting to do with a 33. These have to be "real" frame / transmission numbers because the state runs a background check on the number to determine the history of that car, such as stolen, lean, etc.

1928 Fordman is correct. Bill of sale for frame and parts and you can get a ***le. The only problem is if the frame is for a roadster you get a roadster ***le.

Thanks for the information so far. If I have to ***le the car as a 2015 model, how does that impact the taxes on the car? Who establishes the value of the car if it is ***led a 2015 model?
