    We are building a 37 pickup with a 38 Flatty. Matts..this time
Plans are to have it on its own power within the next month. We are lowering the rear by removing the 37 ch***is rear banjo crossmember and replacing it with a straight U channel. We expect it to lower the rear about five or six inches. The front has a lowered axle and we will be installing a cross steer vega box. Not anything special..just a fun truck to build and drive.
This is the cab you've seen in other pics at the He man garage during the Tradition T build and the 8BA 37 coupe powerplant replacement. The cab has been waiting patiently for about two years.
Pics will indicate the channeling and the chop will proceed after we find out how much headroom it gives us.

The guy on the lift is our own ham..... Hamber ..Youngbuck.
On with the show with Spanky and the Gang!
    No wimen aloud (remember?)

Thanks ..the shop is not mine. Owned by Matt (pictured). Buts its usually the place we Together work on group projects. It has the space and equipment to get things done fast and allows a group to work at different areas on the same project. Very well equipped. Even has AC.
He's worked hard over the years to acquire this. No luck here..all hard work.

We drilled 5/8 inch holes in the sheeting and plug welded the floor to the 1 inch channel here.
Next is to finish the hump by pie cutting it as it comes closer to the ******.
This area will be almost flat. Alot of leg room in this baby.
Next point of interest will be adapting a cross steer vega box.
No hurry to chop yet till we can get it running and see it outside to get a good view.

That motor's a beauty. I love those non-finned aluminum heads - especially on a black block!

I love that truck! But I say buck the trend & don't chop it.

Wish I could hang out at the He-Man Garage.

NO WIMEN ALLOWED? How does this work with ChevyGirlRox running around? She can work circles around all of you. ;)

We considered not chopping... we'll see..

Your right there Harrison... when this girls around we get more accomplished than normal. She welded in the rear crossmember and the shock mounts on this..
The first time I met her she was wearing a short skirt.. bent over a 67 Vette adjusting the carbs with a screwdriver in her hand.
Hell of a worker... her Dad taught her well.... God bless him.
And here to find out she cooks too. A really cool girl...
    bossy yes... :)

You guys are making me blush! Yes the story from PeteJoe is true. And I didn't give two hoots who he was, what he wanted or who was with him. I must admit next to my shop the He-man garage is my favorite hang out. The 37 is really coming along nicely and as YoungBuck said we are working on it way too much! you would think it had to be done to go somewhere. I guess it's just momentum. Once you get excited about a project you just can't stop working on it. The funny thing is in the background you see a absolutely beautiful '37 ford truck (the giveaway truck), the complete extreme from what we are building. Now if I can get the crew over to my shop and excited about working on the '48 GMC with me.....

How about some close-ups of where the cab is setting on/attached to the frame when you get a chance? I need ideas and inspiration for my '38.

Sorry too late for that. We finished the floor tonight.
I plug welded heavy wall angle onto the sheet metal of the back corners of the cab after placing them on wood between the this angle and the frame.
On the front two I welded onto the door support area at the front and did the same only welding to the heavier wall channel already on the cab in that area. After that its simply drilling through the angle wood and frame flange and throwing in a bolt welding the head solid because we will place sheet metal over it. When removing the cab you just remove the nut under the frame and she comes right off. At least thats the theory. :) The above picture of me welding was when I was welding in the front two heavy angle iron into that area.

Here the results.. The welding was done with a fluxcore wire thats why you see slag at the welds..
Only have the tough part right up near the bellhousing to finish. Then its onto the gearbox placement.

See what you're missing city boy? :D You may have bars and restaurants and civilization but you don't have a shop!

We did the rest of the parts shopping last night and have everything we need to finish it. Wait until you see the sweet seats we got! And no, they don't have a "big *** b***" on 'em either!

Not for a while at least. You're dad is all about chopping it. He was sitting in it and said there was way too much head room not to! It is kind of growing on me the way it looks now. There is a lot of room though and I haven't chopped anything for awhile....

Chop your own truck but leave the '37 alone. It's perfect IMHO. ;)

  26. Wow, that 37 pick up is gonna be one cool little truck, any day now judging from the pace of this build up !? I'd say, don't chop it...looks awsome as is.

What are your plans regarding paint....shine or noshine....:D...and interior?

Harrison...I am not chopping my truck! Tonight is the big night to work on my truck, too bad you are so far away or you could come play in my shop! Any baby yet?

Paint on the '37 truck is not going to happen (well mine either as far as that goes). What you see now is what you get. There will probably something painted on the door though ;) . There is not going to be any kind of interior, except for the boat seats!

Bellfontaine...isn't that down by west virginia?

Bellefontaine is about 40 miles NW of Columbus. Our only claim to fame here is we are THE highest point in Ohio.
Akron is probably about a little more than 2 hours away from here.
Maybe I'll see some of you around this summer at some shows.

p.s. What were your college buddy's names that were from around here...chances are I probably know them 'somehow'...we are a pretty small town.
