If I wasn't pretty much stuck here permanently I would be interested but my wife and family are here, too old to move again. I love fabricating stuff. This thread may inspire me to take that welding class at the technical school, I know I can learn to do it, I just haven't taken the time.

None of this stuff is hard, it just takes some guys longer then other. Anybody can do a nice job if they try hard enough, it may take them way to long to make money at it, and you may have to start over a few times, but if you want it bad enough you can do it. Natural talent just speeds up that process.

You can't expect to do any better if you don't do anything to improve. Watching Orange county choppers on TV will not make you a better fabricator. It may show you want not to do, which can be half the battle.

yea that show is always a laugh, until the drama gets old, I've been working in a small aircraft factory for ten years with some great fabricators, that's how you learn stuff. I'm friends with a welder who has been there since 1971, welding aircraft frames, tig, mig, gas, pretty much everything. so he's going to teach me the welding basics, I should have had him teach me ten years ago. If I can teach myself all this other stuff, I'm sure I can learn to weld

Sounds like a dream job. Unfortunately I do my best welding with a screwdriver in the wrong place in an electrical panel.

Hi Rodger, it's good to hear business is rolling along for you. You probably don't remember, but a few years ago me and my bud were in town for the March Meet that got rained out. You took us over to check out a super sweet psychedelic gasser that some friend of yours has.
Good luck with the hiring. All my family members that I liked in Bakersfield died, so I don't make it down there too much anymore.

Sorry to hear about your... losses? But you should get to the March Meet this year. It'd give you an opportunity to get out of crusty old Nor Cal!

I'm always looking for talent. I have talked to a few guys from out of town but that stuff does not happen over night. Believe it or not it is easy to find guys who can hack, finding guys that can really throw down is a whole other deal.

We do lots of custom modifications, Chop tops, sectioning, fender flares, etc. We also do alot of from scratch fabrication. We have not done any car bodies from scratch, Marcel kinda stuff. But I could see somethings going that way in the next couple years.

We have quite a few tools, Eckold, Proline Hammer, Pullmax, English wheel, and the usual shears and brakes.
