Is a running 100,000 mile Lincoln Versailles worth $1500... I.E. Is the four wheel disc brake set up and a 351w/c4 worth the asking price?
The NADA Cl***ic Car Value guide says average low retail is $1,875 in Middle Tennessee where I live. NADA ***umes it's driveable. Your mileage may vary...
That depends on how well the mechanical parts were kept up if they have service records and receipts that would be a plus,if they can't I would make a lower offer.
It's literally an old lady's car... If it were $800 I wouldn't have paused to ask. I was just doing some mental math.
I believe the front spindles on that are the same as the Granada spindles that the '57 crowd uses....so that's other parts$ to consider.
Actually, the '55-'56 cars require reaming on the granada spindle, but the Versailles does not... And then there's the 9" disc brake rear end... That's why I'm considering it.
Doesn't sound like a bad price to me. How many other parts are useable like ac if desired, brake booster etc. 250 to 300 for s**** price brings it down to 1200. Getting closer to your 800 figure. Who knows.. maybe somebody local needs most body/interior parts for restoration.
I just roached a 76 Ranchero and Subaru station wagon using such tactics... I will investigate more thoroughly this weekend.
I used a Lincoln rear in my last stock car, just gutted the parking brake out of it. They were hard to come by years ago, might be a gold mine you have there.
The Versailles power steering can easily be adapted to the '55 and '56 Fords. Are you sure it has a 351 engine? I thought they were only available with the 302.
I got one a couple of years ago .It was pretty ratted out but a lot of it found its way to the 55. Front spindles, rear end, 4 wheel disc brake proportioner and lots of little things. Power steering would have been a bolt on wit drilling one hole. I might still use the hydro boost. I traded the 351 for the 460 my current build is based on. Rear is a 9 inch open with tall gears. I paid $150 for it and what was left paid more than that in s****! As a driver, its worthless so you should deal some.
I wouldn't dream of driving that turd. Granadas were awful cars, and a Lincoln version does not excite me, kind of like the Cavalier and Caddilac Cimmaron... UGH! The sand thing the Versailles is a nice car... but all i see are swap parts. I already have my 58 Ford 9-inch, to heck with disc brakes for the time being. If the car gets cheaper, I may think about it a little harder. Its part of an estate, and good deals rarely come out of an estate. But I will keep you gents appraised of the situation...
The rearends take special parts that are hard to find. A regular 9" has an abundance of parts available so to me it wouldn't be worth anything more than a couple hundred bucks.
