    Hello from France !

I have a question, sorry for my bad english, my powerglide cast iron broke his reverse speed one month ago.. so I found another powerglide cast iron who work very well in france and I put a remanufactured kit.
Anobody said what converter torque do I put with this powerglide ? I have the origine converter torque but I don't know if he work good..

    Thanks you so much !!

That's my car : (Yes I think I was the only man who put a 57' 283 ci engine with front engine mount in a 58 car... but I was 18 years old when I do this ! Now 22 years old ! ahahaha)

You can take apart the torque converter, and inspect it to see what condition it is in. The hub, the roller clutch, and the thrust washers, are about the only parts that normally wear out.. The O ring that seals the two halves also goes bad. As long as the parts look OK inside, and you clean it well, and ***emble it exactly as it came apart, with a new O ring, it should work fine.

Ok thank for your answer ! I think (squirrel) I keep mine and clean it when you said. But If I want to put a new converter in this cast iron powerglide (stock 283 engine) anybody can show me (summit, jegs...) what parts can buy it ?
    Thanks

According to the link above, there is no converter that you can buy, that will fit that transmission. If you get a 1961 or 62 cast iron powerglide, then you can use a newer type converter, I think. But if you use the 57 transmission (with the mounts on it) then you will have to use the 57 converter also.

Bet you had holes for side motor mounts on that 57 283. Reasoning is that Turboglide was introduced that year and it mounted directly to the block. The Turboglide had a rear tail mount, so the side mounts were needed for torque. (Powerglides had the adapter that had side mounts for 55-57 chevs.)
