Weiand staggered 4x2's on a SBC?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tim Brown, Jan 28, 2006.

  1. Anyone running one of these manifolds? If so, are you using 97's or 94's?

How does it run? Any pictures out there of linkage for one of these setups?

Vintage speed gets 185.00 for the linkage alone! Think I'll build my own...

I've got one of those set-ups. Its not on a car though. Ive got 97's all hooked up to run at the same time. I don't think there is any way to make them progressive.

The only draw-back with that set-up is the lack of "progressive" linkage; You're right about running an open set of carbs constantly. On my tri-powered SBC I'm running on the middle deuce at low RPM's, and don't "kick-in" the end carbs unless I "put my foot in it". With 4x2's you're running two of those deuces all the time. A high RPM rear-end (3:70, 3:90, 4:11) helps because it will keep the RPM's and fuel/air volume up to avoid "loading up" the engine. If you remember the American Grafitti Movie Deuce Coupe had a Man-E-Fre 4x2's combo on a 327 SBC with a 4-speed and 4:11 rear end; It probably worked pretty well for ole John Milner for everything except zilch gas mileage! That engine HAD to be ****ing up fuel something outrageous! I love the looks of those multi-carb combos, but they DO pose their problems.

None-the-less, I wish you well! Cruise often. Cruise well.

I've got one and picked up 4 94's to put on it. Turns out that was a bad idea.....Shoulda paid more and got 97's.... Live and learn I guess....I'm sure there are folks that run 94's, but I gotta believe I got good advice, and I'm not gonna use the 94's...
So now I'm gonna just sell the whole mess and keep the four barrell.
The offset on this manifold makes it hard to fit both the linkage and the fuel supply... It would be beautiful, though- It just LOOKS terriffic

  5. Thanks guys. Hey if it looks cool does it really need to run good? Just kiddin

This is going on my 35 tudor flatback and it WILL be a driver. Lots o miles in store for this car. Maybe I'll just stick with the performer and 4 barrel for now....

i got one but its still sitting in the garage - not had it on the car yet. im going to run 94's on it though. i have a progressive linkage for it, there are a couple of ways the linkage can be set up on these though. i am going to run the centre two and bring in the end two once i get on the gas.

I've got that intake on my roadster and modified progresive 3x2 linkage... It runs off the center two carbs and the outer two kick in when I stand on it...

    It works great.

can you run two 2x2 progressive linkages with a back bar or how do you modify the 3x2 progressive?

Man that is gonna run terrible!!! You might as well just get rid of it!! I'll give ya $150.00 for that manifold just 'cause I feel bad for you.... Joking, I've been after a 4 / 2 set up for years, Damn, where did you find it??? Ken

  16. I found it at a flea market. I had to shell out 25.00 for it about 10 years ago. I shoulda been buying 97's then too...
