anyone out there know who's tudor this is. -thanks -i must say it is awesome looking and i couldnt find anymore photos on the interwebs. and lots of HAMBrs in TEXAS right
Hi. No clue on the car but if that photo was taken in Texas those mountains in the background should place it somewhere out near El Paso I would think. Hang in there, someone will come up with better or more info on it. Jimmie
belongs to @BLAKE . Personally, I think he ruined the lines of the car with such an extreme awkward chop of 2" [/USER]
2" corrects the original top to body proportions , if it was cut any more the driver couldn't wear his hat. Looks great!!!!!
There's a build thread on here when I originally built that for CrazyDaddy, Blake is the current owner and has seriously took major care of this gem, glad too see the wheels driven off of it Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B.
My Tudor body came from the Lone Star State too, although not to that stage quite yet, love the look of this one. My opinion of the chop is perfection!
I'm kinda with Larry on this, maybe a slight angle chop would have been better. Don't get me wrong it is a great car. Ron
Out for a putt. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/saturday-run-to-floresville-tx.960692/unread
We just chopped my tudor 2"! It looks great. I've been looking at these cars for 40 years and 2" speaks to me, bur so does the conventional 3" chop. I did'nt chop my coupe or other sedan. If we all built our cars to suit other people, we would all have the same cars. Boring. This is a "Dynomite" ride, I love it!
Perfect Chop!...Wonder what a "half chop" would look like on a 30 Sedan....? Great Stance! Needs some Paint!
Just found this thread... thanks for all the kind words, fellas! It's really been a great car. It's cool that we have the history of the body as it changed hands and went to Cali and back after being found complete in Central Texas, and I can't say enough about the ch***is and the 327 that The Dirtys put together... trouble-tree after 12K miles. The chop itself was done in my garage with the help of Bleed and Jeff Peterson (now Midwest Fabrication) and a group of buddies on a Memorial Day weekend with beers and brats on the pit. I did the finish welding and stuff over the following 2 weeks (evenings and weekends). I'm still stoked on the result. I can tell you that the decision to go 2" was contentious... that 2" wide pre-cut tape stripe looked like a skinny pinstripe in the middle of all that metal, so there was a strong urge a****st the crowd to go bigger... but we stuck to the plan!
That's in Big Bend... a group of us have made a run out there for the Viva Big Bend music festival the last 3 years. Here's links to HAMB coverage of the 2013 trip and the 2014 trip.
Quick side note/question - In the 2014 trip pic of the (yum) tacos, what is that WM Instant Cold Beer deal on far right????
I like the look. I took 2" out of mine and laid the posts back. Different build style but the same profile.
I saw this car at the HAMB drags and it was one of my favorite cars there. Dont know if he ever ran it, if he did i didnt see it, but it looks even better in person.
Thanks, guys. The car has been to the last 3 HAMB Drags, but aside from a couple of easy p***es at DOTD, it doesn't see track duty. Here's a pic taken just down the road from Mokan last August... couldn' resist.
