Received an email after calling to checkup to make sure they received my entry.. Guy was more then helpful and said they don't send their choices out till end of January early February I guess. Either way if it gets accepted I'll be there for the whole show or if it doesn't I'll be there for Saturday Looking forward to it again this year
Me and "The Hot Rod Apprentice " will be there on Friday with 56 kids. None of which are our own! Cheers, Stewart.
NOPE, THEY DON'T WANT ME, SAID THEY WOULD RATHER HAVE MORE OUT OF TOWN CARS - I am from the event's backyard and after giving me the "green light" already, they just told me (after many conversations and logistics to make sure that I talked with the right people that spanned 6 months) that they don't want me there. What a waste of time. All of the wrenching, parts and frozen fingers for nothing! What a joke. Glad everyone from out of town can participate and that my tax dollars went to expand COBO (even though Detroit declared bankruptsy and did not pay a lot of people) so that they can handle larger events.
Amazing how many vehicles are not even done yet and they are "invited" while others are dragged along until enough chrome applies that they get bumped and told "thank you but no". But they are a private company and they can do as they wish with their reputation.
. I'll be in the ba*****t with my newest build. A Caddy powered 33 Ford truck. Hopefully I'll have time to do an "after the fact" build thread when I get back from the show. Stop by and say hello.
I got the '41 put together today, drove it out of the garage. Weather permitting, wwe'll be heading out Wednesday. We'll be in the basment with the best of the show. Stop by and say Hi.
Looks like Erik (Hot Rod Apprentice) will be on his own with the students. I'm just not up to it. ****s that I will miss it. It's just taking longer to recover from the surgery than I was hoping for. Have fun guys. I'll catch up later. Cheers, Stewart.
Got my Falcon parked and cleaned up last night. It was neat to walk around and see all the early move-ins before the crowds start. It was also evident just how much effort goes into organizing something on this scale, so many thanks to the guys who were there running the show.
for anyone that is interested here is a bunch of pics i just posted to a thread... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...trip-to-detroit-autorama-2015-85-pics.966915/
Just wondering how many came home with the Cobo Cough ? I have seen two Doctors at two hospitals and been in bed every day since we got back to London with a fever.
No cough, but my legs and hips were sore for a couple days from all of the walking and standing around.
