Hi, my car has a 216 6cyl, can anyone advise of what lb. pressure and or brand of cap is good for this engine? Thanks

  2. 0 pounds of pressure. That cap retains no pressure. Not sure if a four pound cap would cause problems with the radiator tanks, but that is the lowest cap that actually retains pressure. I can get those through work (Advance Auto), but cannot get the no pressure caps.

Alternatively, you can snip the spring on a pressure cap.

It won't matter since the radiator is not sealed. It has an overflow not attached to the filler neck.

I will pass along something I learned on my 37. I had an original radiator re-cored and put on a 16lb cap from the parts store. Long story short... the neck in the radiator is too deep for a standard cap to reach the bottom where it should seat, so it was not not providing any spring pressure. I rigged it with a few big washers placed inside the neck so it would have some pressure. It worked better, but still ended up with an aluminum radiator.
Measure the depth from the top of the neck inside to where the cap should seat and you'll see what I mean. Hope this helps.
