Hey everyone, its been a while since I have posted but I am currently working on a project that has a mopar 8 3/4 axle installed I am running into some issues where I cant get the bearing preload adjusted I can tighten the one side up 100% but it wont do anything for the other side the drivers side (one without adjuster) still has full slop, could I have ran into issues where the axles are wrong size? or maybe the center section is from a diffrent vehicle and has diffrent style adjuster? any help would be great

    Thanks, Low50s

You should just have a pre load adjuster on one side of these, if I remember correctly. I have to admit that I replaced my axles in the Plymouth about ten years ago with seald bearing axles from Dutchman... No more adjustment.

I purchased the "green bearing" kit from MOPAR. No more adjustment as NEED LOUVERS stated. I can't answer to your current issue though.

Ok I'll look him up , it sucks as I bought and installed all new bearings and seals and am in the trying to put together stage, I tore it apart due to one side bearing being trashed !! Because I'm assuming previous builder did not either rebuild diff center correctly my axles are not touching / missing pieces to set the preload correctly

did you have the pumpkin out? replaced any differential? The reason only one axle has the side adjuster is because the right axle pushes against a pin/block that is in between the 2 axles. So, right axle adjustment takes up the slack with left axle and the pin/block. is that missing? -rick

It's more of a "button" than a pin, but yes, you're missing the thrust block. It's absolutely necessary if you're running the stock tapered bearings with the adjuster. You'll need to pull the 3rd member to install it. Call up Cass (Dr. Diff) and order one up. He sells them for about half the price you'll find them for on eBay. I went through the same thing recently.
