Another amazing weekend with my rod/kustom family! The 58th Annual Starbird-Devlin Show filled up fast, 5 of the cars that were supposed to be in the Kustom City display were too late when they tried to register for the event. The 36 Ford that you see above was one of the Kustom City display and I’ll be shooting a feature video of it soon! More to come! There are a bunch more shots but they are not all HAMB friendly rides. To see the rest of them go here. See you at a show, Royboy
Went to that show. Some very nice cars there. I awarded the green 49 Olds you have shown for the company I work for. It's a very slick ride. Devlin is the name of a Rod and Customs shop here in Wichita, KS. Tim Devlin, owner, puts on the show and 100% of the proceeds received goes to three charities.
Doug's Toad is one of my favorite mild kustoms ever! Tom, as was said above, Devlin is the name of a family in Wichita that is part of a group of people that bought the show from Darryl and changed it into an charitable event. Tim's shop turns out some great work, I need to get down to their new building and do a shop visit!
Great coverage as usual Travis! Thanks for posting! A guy I work with showed me some pictures of a few cars at the show, none of which were my style. Glad to see there were some great HAMB friendly cars there too! That 36 is a beaut! Can't wait to see more on it.
Showing at an indoor event is always a bit of a hassle. For those of us that live out of town it adds a degree of difficulty to show at an event like the 2015 Starbird Devlin Show. For me it started Wednesday evening with a 90 mile drive to Wichita to drop off my daily driver in a parking garage. Then Thursday I took off mid morning to get the Galaxie washed and drive her to Century II. By 4pm I had the Galaxie in the show and cleaned up and I was back at work. I even had a few minutes to stop by Deville’s Barber Shop & Shaving Parlor to get myself looking good for the weekend. My baby! Floyd & Becki’s 58 Edsel Wagon Jack’s 51 Ford Shoebox. BEAUTIFUL Front Engine Dragster by Crown Customs’ Corey Conyers See a shop visit article on his shop here & hear him on my podcast here. More to come! See you at a show, Royboy
For most of the weekend I was hanging out with the Primary’s crew. They put on the Rumble car show that goes down Sept. 26th this year in Wichita. You can find out more info on their show here. Above is Steve McGregor’s model A, built a long time ago when it would have been called a rat rod, but now that term means something else and the car is more of a hot rod in my book. I love this car. Matt brought out this Vette which he’s had for 17 years. Some of the more particular Corvette owners were quick to point out that the car didn’t have wipers, many people pull the wipers and put chrome bullets on the studs for better looks. Most of the time the wipers are then just stored in the car for when they are needed. It was quite entertaining listening to the adamant Corvette owner try to convince him that they should be on the car right now at the show. Some Corvette owners are a special type… Joe McGregor’s Caddy has been around for a long time, since he was in High School and it’s been every where. I’ve seen the car loaded with people in Salina, Joplin and a bunch of other shows no matter how hot it is or how far away the event is from Wichita. Smooth kustom El Camino! Troy’s all steel roadster More to come! See you at a show, Royboy
Yeah I can't wait to do a feature video on it! I'll get some audio of it running and the story of the build from Conyers.
