Hello from Foxworth Mississippi. I recently bought a 1954 Victoria project car that needs lots of love. It came with no running gear (I have a 351W/C4 to remedy that) no bumpers, seats, front radiator support or radiator, and lots of smaller stuff. I am peeling away lots of "repairs" to the floor pans and find they are shot. I plan to build my own but need some info about running boards. I have looked at some suppliers ads and it appears their is an inner and outer running board repair piece. Is this all I would need? Should this be addressed before replacing floor pans? This is a 2 door Hardtop car by the way. I am somewhat skilled in restoration/modding as I also own a 1954 Ford F-100 that my wife and I completed (only 9 short years!) . I know practically nothing about these cars. What years and models will parts interchange? Any info appreciated. I would love to find a complete parts car somewhere close to South Miss. or Louisiana for reasonable price. Thanks and pre pare to be bombarded with questions, Steve Bennett

oledad, here you will find that information file that should answer a lot of your questions: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/faq-sticky.897329/ So take some time and give it a good read. Also use the search function above to search archives that were posted by the Group members as there are a fair amount of build pictures in there. A 5.0/302 is a little easier swap that the 351 as the 351W is 1.5" wider so exhaust to steering box clearance can present some issues. After a good long visit to the FAQ file which you will want to save the link to for EZ access ask away here in the regular forum,DO NOT ask questions in the FAQ file as it is for information sharing only. Welcome to the Group! Enjoy the ride! :D

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. I am old and practically computer illiterate is why no pictures posted. Still need to know the answer to my floor pan/ rocker panel question. Thanks, Steve

floorpans/inner and outer rockers.... When I did my '57, I worked in one area at a time...right front, left front, left rear, etc. That helps keep the car as strong as posible and you've always got the opposite side to look at for reference. I took up the rusted floorboard in that area first to get a better look at the extent of the rust damage. For the most part, my floor supports were good with only 3 or 4 of them needing new metal at the ends where they spotweld to the inner rocker. Take a really close look at those areas as they are the most prone to rust. I cut both the inner and rockers off next, then repaired the floorsupports where needed. From there I welded the inner and outer rockers and then finally the new floorboards.
I ***ume the 54's and '57's were basically the same approach.

Thanks Texas57. That's what I needed to know. Thanks to you also JeffB2 for the link to the replacement parts. Seems that most of the body is in really good shape but the floors are toast. I built my own for my '54 F-100 but I think I will get the original style for the car. Thanks, Steve
