I Needed to mock my flattie up in the A to get an idea where everything is going to go so this afternoon I got on it. Made a 1" tubing "crosmember that would bolt across the stock front mounts and rest on the frame. Worked out pretty well, I'm begining to see how everything fits together. Bolted my '39 trans on as well but it is just chained to another piece of 1" laid across the frame.
I installed an electric fuel pump on the '38 and STILL had my fuel delivery (or lack thereof) problem. I decided I should just bite the bullet, stop ignoring the obvious, and drop the tank. It was so full of **** that nothing could p*** through the outlet. I don't know how it ran at all. Now if I can get a quart of sealer and a sending unit I should br on the road. 60* in January ROCKS!!! JH
It wasn't that cold out today so I stuck my parts together. Making sure everything is going to work together with placing and ****. Its alot of work to stick a body on a frame by yourself lol.
Went to the Chicago WOW for the first time in recent memory. Voodoo Kings had some good stuff there including a Plymouth coupe with a just right chop. Talked with a guy that had a '50 Olds g***er to find out that it was BBC powered . Still interesting to see some of the more obscure mods. Started fabing a replacement battery box area in one inner fenderwell. Lined up a pair of #8 heads. Made sure the funky noname aircleaner fit the carb that showed up on the doorstep. Any idea what company built these?
I changed some interior framing around to better use space in my new shop and primed my facia boards OUTSIDE, our winters are so harsh. Meanwhile, Carla got all of the lights in the shop wired!
Finally got to do something car related, went to the local WPC club swap meet. Got a good score on a Thermoquad too... actually really good cuz Dad paid for it. Jay
worked on the chevy a bunch and drank some coors light with fathack and discoverd how sobering white castle burgers are at 1 a.m.
http://i8.ebayimg.com/03/i/05/f9/65/73_2.JPG http://i23.ebayimg.com/01/i/05/f9/9b/90_2.JPG Drove to Independence to pick up these two pieces off of Ebay for my 54 truck. Went shopping with the family and then spent Saturday night and Sunday till about 1:00 puking or ****ping. I'm just glad I got the tailgate so cheap. $27.00 plus the gas to go get it. The steering wheel I scored for $31.00.
Had a good weekend. Pulled the motor, cleaned it up, flushed it, painted it, replaced all the freeze plugs. Pulled the front springs, shocks, etc. in preparation of painting the frame(inlcuding swapping the main spring for a reverse shackle or whatever its called, to drop it another 1 1/2). Welded in new coil over shock mounts to drop the rear another inch. Started to square and plumb everything to adjust the four bars and decided to strip them down for paint first. Solved some binding problems in the suspension. What a great way to spend the weekend.
Chamge drums to disc in the front and brake lines from the m/c to the main line from the rear. Nice work fellas....later ken

Spent most of Sat. and part of Sun. building a huge closet/hobby organizer. It's 12' wide and 80" tall and 35" deep. It'll be nice to have removeable trays to put half done model cars, paintings, and other small stuff in when you don't want them sitting out on the kitchen table. Got 95% on a quiz in my online statistics cl***. Got about halfway through on some artwork for DIRTYT. Closest I came to a car was moving some **** out of the way in the garage.
ripped the vinyl off the roof of my buick and grinded all the glue and **** off gettin ready to paint it....
Like others have said, very mild temp also here in the Metro Detroit area. Had to have hit 60 degrees on Saturday. Straightened out the garage a bit. Started up Big Olds. He hadn't been started or driven since I got back from CA with him in October. Even though he doesn't have any taillights, gauges, etc, I decided to take him for a spin and stretch his legs. Never left the mile square sub but it sure felt great to feel and hear that big block after a 3 month "nap". Really got my juices flowing. Late afternoon on my way to the gym, I p***ed by a house that I had to have p***ed by a thousand times in the last 27 years. Garage was open, older dude working on a car inside. I screeched to a stop and pulled over to the curb, walked up and introduced myself. Insiude he had a '58 Pontiac that he was doing bodywork on and a '29 Sedan that was stock. Chatted with him for a hour about his cars and Big Olds. Great old guy and I'm thrilled I made a new car bud in the neighborhood. Sunday was kinda rainy and misty so did alot of little things around the house inlcuding some new light fixtures.......thanks Rudy!!
Flower and I got her firewall done on the inside, the floor is now complete. All we need is to finish the grille, bolt on the windshield and dash, mount some lights and we have a DRIVER!
I spent my weekend remodeling the kitchen for the wife. Not really car related but still pretty manly work... and it buys a lot of goodwill with the wife. Happy wife = More toys for me
I spent the whole weekend screwing. I hung kitchen cabinets and put down sub-floor in my GF kitchens. 2,700 screws in the floor alone. Someday soon I'll get started on the interior of the '62 Rambler.
