If it's the original booster...trash it...it's way too expensive to rebuild and the performanace isn't that much better...

Wow.. I am 100% in the other direction. I would not be without the power brakes. My Caddys have all had power brakes (Except the 1951), and I wouldnt be without it. It is well worth the cost.

    Try http://www.usapartssupply.com/

They are usually cheaper than Kanter. Althought my theory is that if you are going to do it, do it right. I say find the money. Kanter is serious $$$ on certain types of parts, but usually the quality is there.

Spend the money... sell a lung... It's a Cadillac!

I'm with Hyfire rebuild the original one, if its the Bendix Treadle Vac type they are a little pricey but i've done two & they've worked out great.
Not difficult to do just a little different than the norm, the kit comes with good instructions & exploded diagrams too!

Your 55 has the booster seprate from the master right? A friend just rebuilt his I think it was about 360 not sure the exact price but it works great afterwards. He has one of the easiest pedals I have ever used to push down. It was rebuilt locally in town by an excellet rebuilder. Before you think about shipping it out check and make sure there is nobody local first. If you want to upgrad im sure one of those mini booster and master cylinder ***emblys could be adapted underneath the floor boards.
