Hi gents... Thought I might comment on a supplier doing the right thing. Seven or eight years ago I bought two Speedway water-pumps for my 38 Ford project. I built the motor and ran it on a test stand. I installed it in my pet project and then life happened The 38 sat until 6 months ago when I suddenly got my "mojo" back and finished the project. The pumps had maybe one or two hours running time... total. Well I called Speedway to mildly complain and ask if their "offshore" pumps had a history of puking? They said not really having sold thousands. I said well is there anything you can do for me if I order two more? Answer: they sold me two for 100.00 total and shipped them free! Good customer service.
Been doing business with Speedway almost since they first came on the scene back in the 1950s. I have NEVER had ANY bad experiences ever. Super quick shipping. Excellent personnel on the phones. Large inventory and extremely fair prices. Yeah, very satisfied in every way.
Very few company's would make good on a product that is that old. Speedy Bill built a class company and it looks like his legacy continues to follow his led. HRP
Had a speedway steering column that went bad after 2 years! gave them a call they sent a new ididit column free of charge great guys there!
Yeah.....they have great products, very competitive prices, huge inventory, helpful people on the phone, ship super fast.....you'd think the least the lousy bastards could do is SHIP FOR FREE!! Ray
My experiences with Speedway have been exactly like the rest of you. I find them to be professional, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile to do the right things, even when something is out of date or questionable. Some people bitch about some of their products being offshore, but we have ourselves to blame for companies doing that. We want champagne, but we want to spend beer money to buy it........companies have to sell what we are willing to pay for, so Speedway does buy some items offshore to be competitive. But that is simply good business. A company doesn't stick around as long as Speedway without doing something right, and they do that consistently, IMO. I am ready to place another order with them as we speak, and I am sure it will be correct and here in a few days. Don
I suspect you are joking but if not, I take it you've never owned a business. The customer pays for the shipping no matter what, it's either built into the price or added on. There is no such thing as free.
Yes, that was sarcasm. I was in business for 34 years! And, one of my most cherished principles is ..."There is no such thing as a free lunch" Ray
I also like Speedway.. I wait till the winter to buy parts to take advantage of their LOW shipping cost...
Have had good experiences with them too...just ask where stuff is made to be sure. Of course they have never copied any of my stuff overseas...feel bad for the guys who have had that happen, a bit ruthless....
Don't know about a free lunch but Wheel Vintiques sells their 15x7 smoothie for $84.00 with $83.94 shipping. Summit sell their same wheel for $53.53 with free shipping!! Pete
I like Speedway. I also make a list of things I will be needing in the future and wait until their 'off season' free shipping offers to place my order. Good company to deal with.
Never done me wrong. Acutally wait, they did once. I ordered some stainless glasspacks once. They screwed up and sent me the polished ones instead of raw. Told me to keep them instead of sending back for the cheaper ones. Even more fun to buy at the store. Place your order at the counter, small one they hop on a bike, big order the golf cart. And cruise along then when they get to the end of the isle the robot meets them with the part.
When I was building my roadster ,I ordered an Offenhauser type gas-pedal...It was on back-order for several months, yet I got frequent calls from Speedway updating the latest news.....every time I look at the pedal now , I'm reminded of the importance of taking care of your customers.. I know and have read of some bad experiences, but I have nothing but praise for them... Every order was filled..if there was a problem ,they fixed it right away.. Thats my $0.02 worth on a cold 14 degree day in the Sunny South...
I could not have built my project without their help. Order in morning, shipped in afternoon, and here half way across the country in 2 days. Each and every time. So far everything I have bought from them says "Made in USA".
When I got the '37 a few weeks ago, it came with some parts I didn't want/need for my plans. I sent an email asking if they could be returned and they immediately replied that they could if they could find the invoices on the original purchase and the packages were still complete and in sellable condition. I got all the invoices when I got the car so it was easy to find the info they needed to track the parts. I got most of my new parts for the cost of the returned parts. I was shocked! I was going to be in Lincoln that week so I did it face to face and everything worked better than I could have hoped for. These parts were purchased in 2008 by another guy ad I got to return them in 2015 for a full refund to use against the new parts I waned to get. I've had so many good purchases thru Speedway I will be a loyal customer. I there is a Speedway brand part and a name brand part, do the math. The cheap part is the offshore and the bigger money part is the better choice most of the time, they freely admit that when asked. Will always be a customer. SPark
I'm part of a group that drives and maintain a 35 ford 189inch wheelbase fire engine featuring a newer flathead. We have issues with the water pumps too. They leak when it's left alone, and not driven regularly. But we start it up and let it get warm, and the leak stoppes. But we don't leave it for 8 years. [emoji12] That above and beyond what one can expect from a parts store! The legacy of the oldest speed shop in the US & A, is as good as ever.
I've heard very few complaints about the service someone got at Speedway. I've ordered from them with very good service. The only complaints I ever hear is where the parts come from.
