Might be the norm for you old timers here, but just got off the phone with another HAMB member about a part I have for sale...dang, this may be a super large site and all, but I really think it's more of a community...what the heck have I been missing all these years?

I think I found a new home to spend my free time at.

Can I give props to the site?...Okay...will do...Props to you all!

Room Service??? Yes, I would like an order of Hemi Eggs and a side of Hamb. I'm in room 426 and I'd like a copy of the Jalopy Journal.

The Hamb is really not addictive unless you suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder or you are a outcast in your community...like Larry! rl.gif HRP

I lurked for quite a while before dipping my toe into the healing waters of the HAMB. Now I bathe daily in this petrol based fountain of youth.

  20. Well thanks I have done all I can to make it a warm fuzzy for everyone.

So you are here and you like it, now what are you building for yourself? its just a question. I think that you like many others have seen the good in us hoodlums. Enjoy yourself while you are here.

If you really like it and plan to hang around, ante up for an Alliance membership and show your support and appreciation in a way that counts. :)

Right now I'm trying to make room to work on my '36 Ford PU, I got my '42 PU up and running and trying to sell it off to fund my '36.

What I've mostly found reading through many threads, is inspiration to get off my **** and into the shop and get to work.

I don't have the skills to customize like chopping a top, etc, but have come across and bookmarked at least 30 builds with things I can do and incorporate into my '36.

  26. Tell you a story about skills and the lack there of.

About 45 years ago now give or take, I knew this kid that told this other kid he could chop his model A for him. He had heard that you could cut sheet metal with a skill saw if you turned the blade around backward and he had a torch and knew how to braze. His grandpa had a skill saw.

So the other kid brings this A bone over to the first kids house. Right the in the driveway after a weekend of cutting and brazing and cutting some more because. "it would look better chopped some more" aside from the fact that it was a little crooked it was a chopped model A (a really chopped model A).

Skills are acquired, by mistake in some cases.

A '36 doesn't need to be chopped it can be but doesn't need to be. ;)

Now if you messed up the chop just right, the crowns in the road would hide it;)

I wan't wanting to chop my '36, I was just speaking in general, I cab do patch panels and such, pretty handy with my Mig on anything, but some of the stuff I've seen built here is truly mind blowing and way out of my league.

Up until a few months ago, my '36 was destined to be more street rod, some things I'll probably leave (IFS and tri 4 bar in the rear), but will be going away from the EFI AOD route, etc.

After I sold my 1st car on the HAMB I realized that I needed to be an Alliance Member. I'd much rather support the HAMB than Evilpay and their outrageous fees. Evilpay never taught me anything about working on cars. Welcome to the Dark Side!!!

Don't worry about not having skills. Search the hamb, learn all you can and then just ****ing do it, whatever "it" is.
After making (and correcting) enough mistakes, you'll make fewer and TA DA! you will have improved your skills. If you never try anything new, you'll never learn anything.

Just before I turned 50, I rowed a heavily loaded 22' snout boat 226 miles through the Grand Canyon - with very little prior rowing experience - and believe me, rowing that ****er was like rowing a freakin' Buick. The river was running between 17,000 and 22,000 cubic feet per second so it was a hell of a ride and at the top of every major rapid I was so scared my mouth was as dry as cotton. In an effort to act like Mr. Cool, I'd take a gulp of water before dropping in and then sing Patsy Kline's "Crazy" out loud while blasting through the waves. Even though I was scared of flipping that barge, my "on the job training" taught me how to row big water in a hurry. Since then I've rowed the canyon 2 more times in an 18 footer (world of difference) and may even do it again this fall at the ripe old age of 70. The canyon is awesome and there's no other way to really see it other than from the river, but I would have never have had the privilege if I hadn't had the balls to do it the first time. What's this have to do with hotrodding? Before I chopped my first rod, I had never done that either so like I said, just ****ing do it.

To me, hot rodding is building what you think looks good, with what you can afford, and then driving the **** out of it. Welcome to the hamb and have fun!
