An older guy I know asked me to list his car on the net for him. it's a 31 Ford, kinda restored, not perfect. The paints getting old and really needs reapinted and I could see bondo in the doors, looked thick. The interior looks good and i didn't see it leaking any oil. He said the engine was rebuilt when it was restored and I'm sure it doesn't have that many miles on it Hmmm... let's see, it had the "owners manual" too. oh, and a Cali car if that matters? I like these cars but they are always out of my price range so I don't have any idea what to ask for it.... or more specifically I don't want to waste $50 putting it on eBay for him if it's not worth what his minimum price is. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow, but in the mean time you guys got any clues as to an estimated value?
It certainly is an A. That's not what I meant. Is it a roadster, coupe, two door sedan, four door sedan, pickup, or touring? Pics are everything.
Explain that above statement for us please. Is THIS the car your hustling or ONE LIKE it with BETTER paint?
If you want help you need to level with everyone. That car could be worth anywhere from $1500.00 to $15,000.00. The restored A's don't begin as much as a well done hot rod. Believe me I checked it out before building my hot rod 30. You need to provide a picture of the actual car. If you put that on ebay for $20k you'll never sell it. You need to educate yourself more before you start selling other peoples cars.
I'll know tomorrow but I think he said something about $12 It looks a lot like this, I think the paint is even the same color scheme. I said his needed paint in an earlier post. I meant this car I posted had better paint. Level? I'm trying bur I don't know why? why do I feel like i'm on the defensive right now? I am trying to learn what this car's worth before I put it on ebay. If he wants 12 for it and you guys say it's worth 8 there's no sense in it but if you say it's worth 12 then I'll give ebay a shot. He's an older guy and I don't want to waste his money.
The best thing you can do right now is put some pictures on here, and get as much feedback as you can. In southern Illinois, ( were I am) if its a running and driving car, its at least worth 6k.
It rained yesterday but I got some pics today. in the bottom pic you can see the paint & bondo. It's like that on both doors, the rest of the car looks Ok, some small dings and paint chips. It starts and runs like a top .... . .
The location plays a part of value too. Cars like that around here, as described, are forsale in the 7-10K range. On the west coast, they may sell for much less. I'm in the heart of the Rust-belt
well I know for a fact $7000 will make him sick. I couldn't even tell him that. what do you think the odds of $11 are? Here are some shots of the interior. . .
In Tennessee you're looking 6500 -8500 as an average. I've seen running originals with good bodies sell for 5000 in this area. 48 Poncho =3W-LARRY]You're in Oklahoma...where's the car at?...if in Okla...where?[/quote]
You are not on the defensive here, but I would exercise a word of caution; People who will pay more don't like surprises.Sit down with the guy and go over all that he has done to this car, body, chassis, running gear, everything. Better to know the history of this car and the extent of any restoration and rebuild as well as current issues. Just listing blindly for someone else doesnt encourage people to buy. Do your homework and it may pay off. Ralph
Before you list it, check out Hemming's Motor News, or at least their web-site at www.hmn.com. Also check out the Model A boards: ahhoga.com and fordbarn.com. Those guys just do stock A's so they could probably give you a regional price. I don't think $10-12K is way out of line for central Northeast, but you have to remember that the demographic group of people who want stock A's and T's is probably late 60's and above and it's shrinking.
