A semi educated guess says they are tapered pins, and should be knocked out from underneath. If this is the case, use a straight punch. New pins might be a good idea on the reinstallation
Look closely to see if one end of the pin seems to be larger than the other. If so, its a tapered pin. Use a punch on the small end to drive the pin out. I re-drill the holes to accept a roll pin, 'cuz I expect to dis***emble it again sometime in the future, and a roll pin is just easier to deal with. I don't think heat on the side case or shift forks is a good idea at all.
From your pic, drive out the pins from the bottom; however, you may have to do a little careful grinding on the end of the pin, because it was peened over to keep it in place. fatkoops idea with the roll pins is a good one. I bought replacements for mine and the holes already had too much wear; the new pins were loose.
