well i was a little disappointing that i didn't get any help on this question as there is alot of guys on here that do seam to no there stuff.
here it is this is how it is done.
first remove floor all of it.
then take of the headers on the steering box side.
and do the drag link of the box you will need a puller.
now undo the 3 bolts that hold the steering box to the chasis as well as the two bolts holding the column to the dash also disconnected the horn button and lights at the bottom of the column if they are there.
now you can twist the column to one side drivers door and pull the horn rod out if you wish after undoing the 2 bolts at the bottom of the steering box remove this cover there is a spring a retanor style clip with 2 prongs and underneath is a c clip take that of rod comes out.
then you can take the steering wheel of.
dissasemble the steering box to remove sector arm,
then undo the clamp from colum to steering box then this will allow you to remove the colum from the steering box housing ..
now through the early ford store i ordered a full rebuild kit a new worm gear sector shaft bearings seals gasket etc.
i had to cut 2 slots through 180 deg apart not damaging the column to get the old worm drive of with the help of my cousin, thanks Brian.
then we pressed on the new worm drive and started to assemble everything again.
took me a few goes to get the correct adjustment on the worm drive sector shaft etc as there is a screw that is eccentric as well as the pressure screw ill call it and the correct torque on the box to chassis etc etc as well as setting the column to dash to steering box to chassis combo and then there is no drag and job done the old manual did help but i didnt get my hands on it till i had a stiffness with weight of the vehicle in one spot of the steering but i soon got that out when i read through the manual a few times, sat and though for a day or two then it came to me and it is now all good with zero play in the steering,,
these things must of been like a rocket ship in there day and as mine has a 5 speed would of been amazing with the early over drive combo you could get for them that was done so ive heard,
i can see why they were so popular simple buggy spring and amazing handling for its day.
as i go through a set of corners in my area thats two lanes wide at 80-90 ks over taking cars the look on there faces is priclless,
