This has come up before regarding SBF swaps,as you know most motor mounts are no longer USA made and the Chinese and India rubber quality is piss poor. The ANCHOR mounts many of us used and are listed in the "Sticky FAQ" have been failing.I ran across a post on hotrodders.com that also showed separating mounts,I ran across a deal on headers I might jump on as I have a cracked manifold that needs replacing,so looking at my '54 I used to be able to get my pinky between the manifold and steering box,not now the mount has settled and is right on it and to make things worse the mount stud is now turning in the rubber and will have to be cut off.:mad: Best to buy these,I guess: http://www.jegs.com/i/Prothane/311/6-501-BL/10002/-1?parentProductId=762288# Then I found this :D http://www.ebay.com/itm/1985-1995-M...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e8d5e5562 WOW! beats Jeg's and Summit by $30

I got really lucky today,a guy swapped out a built 5.0 in his Mustang for a Coyote crate motor and I scored the Prothane mounts like above for $50 off craigslist. They are super beefy like night and day from those junk Anchor mounts,I guess it turned out OK that I had to put things on hold because of some recent medical issues.

I'll be keeping an eye on the Anchors I've got in mine, and I'll p*** the warning on to 3 or 4 guys I know that are just starting the 4.6 dohc swap into '57's and have had the anchor pn's referenced.
    Thanks Jeff

I just replaced the second set of motor mounts and this time I heeded Jeffs advice and used the Prothane mounts, hopefully the last set. HRP

Thanks Jeff B2 for the heads up on the Prothane mounts, I am going to need mounts later as mine don't look that great. Hope your medical issue is solved.

Steele Rubber Products still makes motor mounts right here in the USA, checked earlier today and they make them for y-blocks going in 55-59 fords, didn't check for others but am sure they'll be much better than any offshore junk. And unless you're really hammering your ride the Prothane mounts are a bit of overkill.

I hope you call them and confirm it,sadly Steele is doing some outsourcing too as some members found out. During the Korean War and World War II America became an industrialized nation and produced everything we needed here at home. Akron,Ohio was once the tire capital of the world and Pittsburgh,Pa the heart of the steel industry, not any more.Over 85% of our s**** metals are exported to be used in China and India,I guess we have over zealous liberals and the EPA to thank for that. :(
