Absolutely correct, NEVER run an aluminum flywheel on a heavy car on the street! Experience is our best teacher...

    Coming together nicely...
Jealous as hell about you guys working out of your garage. I am determined to insulate / heat mine so I can get stuff done over the winter rather than travelling all the way across town to get to the shop. The Scout is currently sitting patiently waiting for it's turn to get my attention.

    Cheers

There's no heat....haha. But, there's insulation. I just wear layers long underwear to keep warm. It ****s but what keeps me moving is knowing that if I waste weekends I'll never make the meltdown. I'll look up those articles that I was talking about later.

Thanks I got a lot of inspiration from your build. I was going to run the stock control arms until I saw your thread.

Got a little time In today. I was hoping to bring my car in to the roll cage shop yesterday but that didn't happen. So, I rebuilt the rear trans mount for the jerico.
Made a plate for the bottom of the transmission

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1423440367.762065.jpg
Then mad some plates to mount to the exiting transmission cross member.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1423440425.500243.jpg
Then used a bent paper clip for a scribe.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1423440459.953091.jpg
    I littler grinding and welding
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1423440470.270578.jpg
    Then finished off the back

Here's a picture of it in the car I'm happy with how it came out.

Also rolled her outside for some fresh air.

I will be there on sat with it. Will drive it up like last year. Want to run it one time to see what it will do. But got to get a different trans first that old weak sag will be the weak link. As for a street driver it's fine. So for now it's a street driver and a blast to drive. Going to racers expo next sat to see what's up there in the swap meet looking for one

Started on the drive shaft loop today. It's only half way finished there will be 5 pieces of 1" tube that will be added for support.

It looks far away from the trans mount but once the other supports are added it won't be that bad.

Finished the drive shaft loop. Might be a little overkill but another thing off the list.

Waiting for the fed ex man for a speedway delivery so I decided to make the exhaust turnouts

I bought my headers a year ago and I recently called they guy and he said he found the original caps in his moms garage so I went and got them a few weeks ago
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1425157251.965087.jpg
These haven't touched the headers in over 50 years.

The turn downs are schoenfeld but they were hacked by some worker with the grinder and because nuts and wanted them to look the same I tacked then together before taking them to the belt sander.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1425157476.183692.jpg

I did the openings and the collector side
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1425157517.969813.jpg
    Much better

Then cut a hole in the cap. My 3-5/8 hole saw was stripped out so I welded it the shank
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1425157586.157411.jpg

    Here's the two welded together
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1425157618.477014.jpg

    And on the car

Looking good I like the idea of tacking the tubes together to make them even such a simple solution.
Just curious on your ****** mount will be mounted solid and do you see a problem with that?

Thanks I didn't know it was such a problem until I ordered two different sets. I don't think the ****** being mounted solid will be a problem but we will see.

You have to watch out with a solid ****** mount if you have any ch***is flex it can take out the tail housing.
