    Greetings all from Spokane!

    I've been trolling the posts for a few weeks now and am prepping my question list. Thought it best to ease into things and introduce myself after reading a few responses to other posts.
    I've been puttering with a 1912 Maxwell for the past, gosh 20 years or so and have finally realized that is not what I want right now no matter how finished it gets. Really my needs are simple;

    1. Electric start
    2. Electric headlights
    3. A top
    4. Windows to keep out the rain and bugs if I so choose
    5. The ability to travel at greater than 23 MPH
    6. Not as important but the ability to stop if someone pulls out in front of me

    Simple enough, right? I shared my interest in something a bit more "modern" with a buddy of mine. By the next day he had sent me a link for a 1956 Lincoln Premiere hardtop coupe in southern Oregon. I contacted the seller and negotiated a deal to buy not only the advertised car but also a fairly complete parts car to boot and all of his spare parts. Score! Or so I thought.....

    The next morning I did a Google map search of said purchases, and realized it was 600 miles one way, x 2 cars, x 2 directions, and throw in a trip down and back while on "vacation" just to check them out and see what it would take for a trailer to transport them home. Yup, 3600 miles of driving just to satisfy my vehicular urges. Talk about an understanding wife. She's the Best!

    Long story short, I now have plenty to keep me occupied this winter. "Why wait until this winter?" you ask? Easy. We are in the middle of remodeling our kitchen. It's not like a guy can actually finish one project before beginning another one, usually. That's my plan though. Finish the kitchen by Thanksgiving so we can have the entire family over and then totally rearrange the shop and dive in! The Lincoln is my carrot that keeps me moving along.

    The "good car" is a driver except for non functioning rear brakes and lighting issues. All stock except for 2" lowering blocks and I have kind of decided on an air suspension setup at some point. Love the stance, but with sidewalks and curbs and such it's just too darned long to not s****e. And the bumpers were just redone by the previous owner.... The "parts car" has a Ford 400 and whatever auto box it came attached to when liberated from it's LTD donor car. Not sure what will become of the second car but it has a trunk full of chrome and stainless. Supposedly enough to do one car or the other. I like the no chrome look with primer gray for now. Maybe do red wheels, chrome nuts, and beauty rings? That is minimal enough I can do that, fix the lights, seal the trans leak, and spend next summer doing a shake down run tooling around to shows and meet some fellow enthusiasts. The parts car is really straight with almost no rust. Lots of pot metal corrosion on window frames and such and the bumpers are pretty much shot. Those may become painted items. We'll have to see.

    Anyway, that's my projects for this season. I would welcome thoughts, ideas, constructive criticism, etc. Good to meet you all. You guys are a very talented bunch from what I have seen and score a lot of really cool finds. I'll tell you all about my family car collection as we move along.

    Until then, Happy Motoring!

    Thanks for the warm welcome from all so far. Kinda waiting for the build suggestions?......Very open at this point as purchase was a bit unplanned. I did not make it to the H***ie show this year, heard Palouse was today. Next year I will be at every venue I can manage! Anybody have pics from Palouse they can post?

    Car is up on stands, pulled motor and trans to stop leaks, found steering box is the major leak. That's been sent out for rebuild to 57 specs to eliminate slack. Replaced upper and lower A arm bushings. Duals with gl*** packs installed so it sounds good. Lots of little stuff I could do but cruising season is coming up soon. At this point do a couple ****** seals and put it together until next fall and get some miles on it!
