Looks like I will be moving to Ohio this summer.

I would imagine most of us on here have quite a bit in the garage, shed, etc. Tools, blocks, transmissions, sheet metal, parts cars, what have you. For you guys that ever had to make a move like that with all you stuff, how did you accomplish such a thing? a separate weekend to move your garage? A large POD for storage?

    any tips or advice?

I have always had to move the shop separate of the house and it took several trips to get all the cars, parts, junk, etc. However, thankfully I haven't had to move across country since I was a kid. My dad had lots of stuff, but not necessarily lots of cars. He did put a couple drivers and my brothers 68 Chevelle in an enclosed 18-wheeler to be transported once from Michigan to Oklahoma. But, his company was footing the bill for the move. Depending on what all you have to move, maybe one of the car transporters on the HAMB could help move multiple cars at once.

I'm also preparing to move one state over this year. Looks like I'll be selling some cars and car parts this summer. I can't justify paying to store stuff during the move and followup.

We used ABF moving for our long haul. They drop a trailer off at your house, you pack it, then it slowly makes it's way to your new house. It was very affordable (much cheaper then making several round trips). It took a couple weeks but we went over 2400 miles and across a border so yours would be quicker.

Don't know about Cincy, but Erlanger and Florence KY just across the river seem pretty nice.

its a good time to go thru your stuff and thin out the junk, when we moved a few years ago gave away a lot of stuff, 2 trucks, leftovers from projects long gone etc... felt kind of brutal at the time but haven't missed any of it yet. and it was satisfying also p*** on a lot of parts etc... that went to guys that could use them. buddy of mine hauled over a couple of my cars in exchange for one of the trucks even though the truck was offered outright.

Like Zapato mentioned it's a good time to thin out your "stuff". For the things you can't give away and you don't need a dumpster is your friend. I filled one halfway up with things I don't miss a bit.
