I read on an old post that 1952 and 1953 bumpers will interchange, but not the 1954. Is this correct? I have access to a 1953 Customline with both bumpers usable. Will either or both fit my 1954? Thanks in advance, Steve
The bumpers will fit. They have a little different design. I usedrear guards from a 54 station wagon on the rear of my 53 because they were shorter and gave it more of a custom look.
52-54 rears are the same, A '54 Front will take some real fabrication as the front splash pan has a different contour and the brackets are not the same, if you could get the brackets and splash pan it would be easier to fab up.
Thanks for the info guys. I bought the whole car (1953 2 door sedan) for parts. It had been in a barn since 1972 according to the license plate, but due to squirrels, wet leaves, etc. it's basically toast! Most of the trim (including hood ornament) is salvageable as are the dash and bumpers. Seats are there but very rough. Gl*** is all there but I have all the gl*** for my 1954 hardtop. I plan to sandblast the bumpers and paint them body color anyway so the pitted chrome is not a big deal. I'm learning as I go. Thanks again! I'm sure I'll be back with more questions soon. Steve
You might want to look this over, those seat frames are very sell-able http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...kw=1953+Ford+seats&=&rt=nc&LH_ItemCondition=4 Some of the asking prices here are nutty but I sold a front for a two door for $125 but did not have to ship it. If you want to put up a "parting out" listing here feel free you may be helping out a fellow member.
I found out the hard way they are different but the 52/53 will work on a 54 but you will have to use the 52/53 front splash apron. HRP
