Not to get off topic. But my 16 year old son and I are planning a trip to the NSRA OKC Southwest Nationals April 9-12. We are driving my 40 down. My son would love to go by midwest street cars shop for a visit. Any of you guys been there? Would it be worth our extra time? I know its not a HAMB environment but im just asking if anyone has been there and if so what to expect. Thanks Rusty.

It is down the street from me. The shop where they do the work is behind a fence. They do have a small shop in the front that sells t shirts. It is not hard to find. They are about 5 miles south of I-40 on council road.

No reason to be embarr***ed or disappointed, it is what it is.
Imagine the fun your son would have being in their shop with your car on their dyno.

    What engine's in it?

    Nothing to lose in asking.

Our 17 year old son and I are planning on LSRU 2016, Midwest is on the list along with a Jet Boat on Lake Travis, an afternoon at Zero Gravity, etc... have to do the things that will make it memorable for both of you

Call or write ahead with that engine pic and make an appt. to have the 40 dyno'd. What's another $100 or so on the trip to make it memorable for your Son!? Hook him up, he'll only be 16 once.
If one of the main drivers isn't going to be there at the time of your appt., maybe you can pre-purchase a T shirt for him and have them sign it for him.

Ive tried to call and email them several times. I guess we will just drive over and see what happens. Im sure people are stopping in and pestering them a lot. But I hope they are as cool in person like on the show. Maybe they will throw us a bone and at least take a picture with us. My son would love it if the crow or nova were there to see!!

I can't imagine any kind of disappointment ***ociated with that SD. That engine compartment is the "***s", well except maybe for those coolflex hoses.:D

  15. I live on the other end of Council road, and not ever being there myself, my grandson has talked to them in regards to a turbo'ed O/T project he has. He said they were open to talk business with him and were pretty cool. You wont be far from where they do the T.V. racing, it's near Will Rogers Airport.

  17. Trailer-Ed, having not much else to do today, I took a ride to Mid-West and showed them your HAMB post. I was really surprised to see that both the guy who drives the Pontiac (Chief?) and the guy with the goatee were there taking a picture with a guy. I told them about your plan and he thought that would be great but,,, they couldn't promise they would be there or available to meet your son. They said really the only way that would happen is if both you and them were in the same place at the same time. I mentioned seeing the cars and I just have a feeling that won't happen. Anyway, if your still interested, get on Council Road and head south of I-40, cross under HWY 152, then cross the railroad tracks and about 1/4 mile on your right (across from a convenience store), you have arrived. I spent about 15 minutes with them and they were really nice guys. Good luck, not much to see there but your son might get lucky!

Man. Thanks so much!! Just getting a shirt and a picture of my car in front of the shop would be great. But to meet them would make it really memorable. I appreciate you doing that. I hope I can pay you back some day.
