I have been tempted lately to replace the 235 in my 37 Chevy p/u with a V8,I have found a 57 Olds J-2 motor but I think it will get too costly to drop it in so it will most likely stay six powered. My 235 has some noises but have a extra 235 that is supposed to have low miles and been watching for a 261,since I have spent alot of time to make the 235 look like a 216 it would be a shame to stop now.
Here's mine - Ford 300 punched out to 313 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=788885&goto=nextoldest Here's a few pics for the in-line lovers ....
early 235 (that's why it has 216 valve cover) i put in my 49 i plan to dress it up with duel carbs soon.
does anyone know where I can get a McGurk or Clifford intake for my 302 or has anyone adapted a 4barrel mount to the stock intake. Thanks
I just swapped a 235 out of my 54 chevy pickup, and swapped in a 230 from 68!! Not rebuilt (won't happen for a few years), and not repainted... But damn she still looks good in there! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here is mine in my '51 2 door (avatar). .060" over 226 with Nicson intake, Knudsen head, Nielsen regrind 3/4 cam, home made split exhaust, Pertronix ignition in original distributor. Backed up with a 3 speed overdrive. Building a 254 flattie out of an F6 truck (or school bus), .030" over, Cyclone head, regrind Isky 400Jr cam, Red's header, home built single 4bbl intake, modified Mallory dual point distributor from 292 Chevy, 3 speed overdrive. Putting it all in a '49 Ford club coupe.
I'll dive bomb on in here with a pic of my 292. At the motor shop as we speak getting balanced, lumped, and cam.
Will be picking up a good running 230 in a few weeks. Might get with a friend and get going on a FED.
Great post on inliners. I'm in the process of building a 292 for my 56 chevy. I've got a couple of questions. Just purchased a Clifford intake. Planning on running a for barrel. Which would you recommend? Also where did you purchased the carb linkage. Headers which ones are you running? Thanks JT
