Hot Rods What did your current Hot Rod look like when you started?

Mine headed home

 

Last fall, it's getting brakes etc. right now, there'll be drivable days pretty soon...

This is the first pic I have of my coupe project. The previous owners grandson tried to help by painting the side of the car white. Currently looks like my avatar,but without the photo chop

Current project

 

It has gone full circle and looks more like the first picture again due to being stripped down for rust repair, half finished front clip and engine swap etc.

@JimSibley its a dumb****ed question but I am not the brightest bulb on the three so I got to ask. You cut the doors then built the roof to match them?

Looks good by the way and I don't usually lean toward mega chops.

 

November 1, 2014: After 30 years in the basement garage, it was on the trailer to move from the St Louis area down to Springfield.
November 30, 2014 - Had it running and moving under it's own power again.

This weekend, the front springs will be rebuilt with a combination of leaves from another set, just to get it up off the bumpstops. Still trying to determine which way I am going with it, long term.

 

First picture is from when I bought the Chevy in 1973. Second picture is a couple of years ago. Holy*****, I think I'm doing this whole thing backwards. Oh, well...

When I first laid eyes on the seed of my project it was an unphotogenic mass of hoses and wires that formed a cocoon balanced on an old tire on the back of a flatbed truck. Inside that cocoon was an engine and transmission.

Today, 3+ years later, the project is still just parts...about 75% of the parts needed for my someday to be bobtail T.

I thought that I read somewhere that you pulled that body out of a river bed........ now, I'm off to google how much a Benjiman is worth......

Believe it or not, I spoke with original builder who did the chop work. He was from Pennsylvania and this was a full fender rod (as per state law) built in the late 1970s and done right. Below however is how I acquired it from a guy in Ohio, back on an original frame, fenders and interior gone with God knows what in mind for it...

This is a nice coupe, Love the lines, the rake, the chop, even the dash is fine as frog hair.

So my chuckle of the day, ay my own expense. I was scrolling and some time when I am not really concentrating the words that I see and what is written is not the same. So I am looking at your location as I scroll and my brain said that you live in Tupper Ware New York.
