    Hello !

For first, thank for the answer for my chevy 58 and sorry for my bad english.
I have a question about my friend car's, he had a Ford 58' fairlane, new paint, new interior but not with a good engine or transmission, so he decided to restaure his engine, 390ci with a cruise'o'matic (3 speed) who he has in stock. But in his Ford he had a stock Ford power brake who fix it in intake manifold and in p***enger valve cover. It's ugly and he want to put Edelbrock valves covers without this hole for "power brake" (Only two holes for breather caps oil) . If somebody can explain to me what I do with this "power brake" stock. Do I drill the new exhaust manifold and valve cover ? Do I put a recent brake booster ?
    Thank you so much !
I post you some pictures ;)

In this picture you can see the system of power brake, fix it in intake manifold and in valve cover.

I think you will find that we are a little confused. A rubber hose in the valve cover should be a crankcase vent, not a va***n line (which the booster needs). And you must mean "intake" manifold, not exhasut. That makes no sense to me, maybe I'm wrong. We'll bump you to the top and see if we can get you some help. Tim

  7. A little confusion in translation to start, photo helped. That motor is 66-67 and the Vacuum plumbing was a poor design. You can change it with no issues. Power brake unit was called Tredel Vac with the brake bellows actually on the pedal. If the system is healthy just hook rubber hose to the intake manifold main port. I also believe you are calling the intake manifold the exhaust manifold. I don't think you actually have a problem, just hook up the hose. You can change over to conventional booster as I did in my 57 if you wish but will need to go with a 57 Brake Pedal. If interested I can get you the part number and application for the booster I used. I believe you can use the 58 master cyl. on this booster. It's been a while since I did this change over but I still have the car.

Hey ! Thanks for your answer and yes, intake manifold, not exhaust manifold ! Sorry. So this morning I bought the shop manual for see the stock mount because yes this fairlane have a 65 or 66 engine and not 58! So If I understand I just drill a hole in my new intake manifold edelbrook performer and my power brake will work good ? :)
And can you explain to me what is the "crankcase vent" for my rubber hose who fix in my p***enger right cover ?

    Thank you !
Another picture for say thank to you men, in France anybody give information without money ahahaha

    Superbe voiture !!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Hold up!!! You should "NOT" need to be drilling any holes in a new edelbrock intake manifold. It should already have a 3/8" pipe thread hole in it for that purpose. Crankcase vent or P.C.V. is to replace the old Road Draft tube. Look at your stock 58 motor. coming out the back end of the intake is a steel pipe that drops down below the motor on p***enger side. That was the crankcase vent or Road Draft tube. Newer motors run the P.C.V. system. You can change the plumbing for that several different ways, no need to use all that Pipe and Hose again.

You can also use the vacuum under the carburetor for a power brake source. You should be able to find a vacuum source without drilling any holes anywhere.
Nice looking Ford. The interior looks like a custom from the 1960s.

Hey ! Thanks for your answer ! I understand now ;) You're the best and day by day my english was best :D

Another little question, I think I put Sanderson Shorty exhaust headers because that was the only brand what I found who made a Exhaust headers for 58' fairlane. Anybody have an idea if they work good ? Or another brand ?

  14. I am not aware of Sanderson making a header for your application. I just went to see if they had added a new product, do not see what you need in there listings. A phone call to them might be a good idea. W hen building my 57 in photo above Critz was the only Co. I could find with a header listed for 57-8-9- Fords with FE motor. I am not impressed with there product and chose to build my own. They are what your looking at in above photo.
