I will document the setup of this qc on this thread as soon as the pinion gets back from the machine shop.

  3. May I ask what the machine shop has to do to the pinion?

Probably grind the end to fit into the cover bearing.

yep, I am using an original ford gearset so the end of the pinion needs a pilot to be ground into it to slip into the upper rear cover bearing. There are aftermarket gearsets available (speedway, I think offers them) that come already machined to fit the qc case.

Been working away at the chop for the last few days, got everything fit up and the door tops tacked in place. Had to roll it outside to check it out from a distance... can't wait to get a little smaller tire on the front, I think it will sit just perfect! chopped.jpg chopped2.jpg chopped3.jpg

love the guide 903j's...think about raising the ass end a clenched fist amount between the top of the tire and the fender lip...my .02 cents

  10. That stance to me is spot on, it creates a point of difference to most other 3w.

I think it's less of a rake/stance question and more of a visual weight issue for me. Those are 6.50's on the front, I think a 550 or 600 tire would "lighten it up" and bit. I spent a good bit of time making sure those rear tires fit that wheelwell perfectly, I don't think the rear needs to come up any.

yeah, putting 5.50's on the front will drop it enuff to give it more rake...

(but I still like a fist worth of air on the back :p)

    Realy nice project!

  15. I am on board with you Andy as far as going with the smaller 550 tire up front and I like the rear tire fit with the wheel well. It will set very, very nice.

looks nice, great to make a orig. coupe to shine again.

  18. Just found this thread. Suburb work. I think 3 windows are over chopped many times. But you have the proportions spot on in my opinion.

I have some decent 6.00s but they are currently the rollers on the front of the race car... I'll borrow them next week and see where we are.

Don't know how else to say it, but NICE work Andy. Would 15x5's F1 gennie wheels with 5.50 firestones make the cut for the front?

Sits Perfect!!! I actually like the taller front tire on it. It visually shortens the wheel base for that Weesner look.... but you know me I'm frumpy myself so that just goes hand in hand.

Amazing work, Andy. I can't believe how fast that thing came together. I love the bolt on detail on the chassis.
