that kind color comes about through the flakes being suspended so that sunlight and base dance off - dull/flat finish takes the true brilliance away - looks like you are just doing a dull metallic paint job.

When it doubt, go black. Black always looks good.

  4. I'm FOR SURE not doing black

  5. How about this out of the box idea? White with gold accents.

With gold, like yellow, shakey body work will stick out like dog balls.

    Absolutely!
The body work end of it may be a pain in the *** and time consuming especially if you may be learning as you go, but well worth the effort when it comes time to lay paint regardless of if it's satin or gloss.
My own coupe is satin black, but is straight enough to be gloss black..i just didnt want to worry about the finish or wax it yet..yes im serious. :)
It was more work but worth it 'cause shininess is only a cup of clear away.

As for color choice, gold all the way!
I've never had a gold hotrod but love 'em.
Pagen Gold always draw's my attention but im pretty sure it would show sketchy body work because its a damn bright color.

  10. My car is a hotrod not a show car.I consider my car mostly business.

Also you'd have to know my car.its was not a real coupe,it will never be complety straight,I've mad the roof, and a few patch panels.I'm okay with that.it doesn't bother me.because my car gets down the road just as good.it was 'smooth' once.with filler.I took it all off cause I wanted the car in its pure form without filler.i like it better actually.I just want to paint it to keep the rust away.and the hotrod flats does hide a lot.I've seen it in person.

  11. Yes indy.I posted a pic early in the thread.but its not flat clear on top.they make it actually suade ready to shoot

    Fair enough.
I dig the saturn gold. Would be a cool color choice.

You can get semi shine clear, metallic single stage is hard to shoot without tiger striping, flat is hard to shoot without tiger stiping, put them together, who knows.

I think gold would look great on your car, a base with semi gloss "satin" clear may be more forgiving to apply. Base clear would also give you an opportunity to shoot flake or pearl if you wanted. I wanna see how gold turns out, I've seen satin silver that looked great.

Gold body with a green roof, goes good with smoke on the tires.
